Here's to wondering why, why, why people make up such absurd warrior names. They don't need to. The names don't make sense. 'Creative' is all very well, but surely people should recognize a limit. So then, why do they have names that make so sense whatsoever? What's behind their thinking? Any ideas?

Some do recognize a limit. It's just a lax limit.
Others argue that there shouldn't be any limits, that there are no limits, and/or limits are "pointless".
A lot of people think nonsensical names are pretty or edgy or expressive. Or they just like how they sound.
That's what I surmise from the people I've argued with talked to.

I actually don't mind funny names, so as long as they aren't stupid, like Sparkleteeth or Clawedsorrow.
I used to be a frequent user of those names (not referring to said 'stupid names'), because that way the names didn't require much thinking about and there was a greater range of names to choose from to express yourself and your character. They usually also sound pretty good to your own or other people's ears, and that's what they kind of go for, too.
To be honest, I don't take sides. So as long as a name isn't absolutely stupid, it's fine by me. c:

Mmm. I used to be that way myself, Megan. Even now I don't mind names that bend the rules just a little bit. But "pretty" is not what a warrior name is supposed to be (in general.) It's supposed to describe the cat, make sense, and tells about the warrior's skills/appearance/personality. Like, I've seen plenty of cats named Diamond- something. It. Is. So. Ridiculous. Cats aren't shiny or multifaceted. It's just stupid, since no queen would know what a dimaond was. And even if they did, they wouldn't name their kit after it. I mean, don't they realize people are going to laugh their faces off at these?

I mean, don't they realize people are going to laugh their faces off at these? I've had people laugh at Batfur and Twigtail. Getting laughed at is no indication of anything.

True. Though dying inside at the awfulness of names might be...

Ah, but so many people fit into the category of using 'ridiculous' names that they're most likely to praise a silly name than laugh at it. I, for one, too laughed at Batfur and Twigtail upon reading them just now. There are also a lot of people that don't really understand what a warrior name is supposed to represent and can't be bothered, sadly, or just plain don't know.
For instance, I haven't read a word of the official Warriors series.

Oh......o-o. Hmm. Well, I wish more people would at least bother to find out what the original naming system in the first series was like before they roleplay. I mean, shouldn't they find out how it was originally done before they make us all weep in despair get..."creative"?

I, for one, too laughed at Batfur and Twigtail upon reading them just know. They are a little silly, yes, (ya lahwy, you should have met the cats themselves), but they make sense. Out of curiosity, did you laugh at Bat-tail? Oh, and I used to have a cat named Mudface, too. He was such a clown. For instance, I haven't read a word of the Warriors series. For the sake of good literature, please don't. Besides, reading or not reading the books has little influence on one's ability to comprehend warrior role play or naming. Well, I wish more people would at least bother to find out what the original naming system in the first series was like before they roleplay. I mean, shouldn't they find out how it was originally done before they make us all weep in despair get..."creative"? I don't hold the original series up as the ideal standard. It had Spottedleaf and Runningwind.

True. I guess what I really meant was seeing how the basic system worked. Unfortunately, I wasted money on Power of Three, but read the others at the library. I just read them for entertainment. I should've discovered Terry Practchett sooner.
