"It is hard to find a cat that would be just perfect to be leader, isn't it?" Fadedpelt sat down and washed her paw placidly, though her yellow-green eyes remained fixed on Shortwhisker. Now...how to go about this manipulation? She had to start gently - just jumping out and exclaiming, 'I'd be a great leader' was far too obvious...but she figured it wouldn't take much to convince Shortwhisker.
"You know," she meowed softly, "we share a lot of the same ideals, don't we? A leader should know how to protect the Clan, how to take care of the cats. A leader must be strong and smart." One of her whiskers twitched thoughtfully, planning out her next words before Shortwhisker even spoke.

"Yeah, it's r-really h-hard to find a g-good leader, but I k-know th-there's one in here s-somewhere." Shortwhisker narrowed his eyes. They agreed so far, sure - but experience told him that anyone other than himself or his family was likely to be stupid or deranged on some point. Maybe she disagreed with him on some important aspect of Clanhood (to Shortwhisker, all aspects were important) and she was only trying to lure him into changing his mind. He wouldn't stand for that.
"D-don't try to ch-change my m-mind about anyth-thing! I w-won't do it! I won't!"

Fadedpelt purred in amusement, shaking her head gently. "I'm not trying to change your mind about anything, I promise you," she meowed in a soothing voice, full of sincerity that was most likely false but incredibly convincing. Her deep gray tail swished behind her, still hiding the ambitious look in her eyes.
"What I'm trying to do is help you make a decision. You haven't nominated a cat yet...have you?" She'd just gotten here but a moment before, so it was important she know this before she really got to manipulating him serously. "I'd never try to change your views, Shortwhisker. I'm not like that," she added, her eyes serious.

"Y-yeah I d-did. I n-nominated Redstream." He didn't want her as leader, per say, but she looked like the best choice so far. "Wh-what do you m-mean you're n-not like th-that, huh? I-if somebody's w-wrong, you, or at l-least, a g-good cat, and esp-pecially a good leader, should c-call them out on it. ...But I-I'm not w-wrong."

Fadedpelt had to admit that she didn't completely understand what Shortwhisker meant by that. It was phrased funny. "You nominated Redstream?" The question was not challenging, simply curious, and she looked thoughtful for a moment before nodding slightly. "Redstream's not a bad choice. But I think there may be better. We have other options to consider," she added, saying that loud enough to be heard by more cats than Shortwhisker.
"I mean, I wouldn't try to change another cat's views just for my own benefit." Which was a lie, but Fadedpelt was a very smooth liar, widening her eyes slightly as if shocked Shortwhisker would even suggest that. "And I didn't say anyone was wrong. I've yet to be swayed to any side of this argument. I just got here, after all." Her expression returned to the calm, composed look it had possessed before, looking at Shortwhisker with an innocent expression.

"Yeah, I... I n-nomin-nated Redst-stream, but, I m-mean..." Shortwhisker had no idea what she was talking about after that point. No one had been arguing (except for Patchfur, in a way, but he had forgotten about that by now) so what was she talking about? "W-well, th-there are a-always some c-cats who are w-wrong... N-no one was a-arguing here, th-though, I th-thought, and, um, I... I don't know!"
He widened his tawny eyes. She seemed to know what she was talking about, with such confidence and precision, and he wasn't following any of it. Then again, maybe he didn't need to know what she was saying. She hadn't disagreed with him so far; she hadn't told him he was wrong or stupid or a failure.
"W-would you... would you t-try to ch-change a cat who d-disagreed with you on s-something?"

Redstream narrowed her eyes at Fadedpelt, who continued to talk to Shortwhisker. She had not seen this cat around before - so how could she comment that Redstream was a good choice? However, the she-cat was putting up a very good act, and Redstream found herself reluctant to doubt her. Nonetheless, she spoke up. "Excuse me," she mewed loudly. "I don't believe we've met, so how can you be so sure I'm a good choice? And what do you mean, exactly," and here Redstream attempted to make sure that her voice didn't sound boastful, "that there may be better? If you're trying to make a point, perhaps you should offer more thought and reason to what you're saying? Also, this is a debate," she added.
Speckledclaw and Orangestorm simultaneously perked their ears at the arrival of another cat.
Speckledclaw decided to see what kind of reasoning this new cat had and quickly strode over to where Fadedpelt and Shortwhisker conversed. It seemed blatantly obvious to her that Fadedpelt probably knew something about Shortwhisker and was trying to suck up to him - a bad choice, in her opinion, seeing as Shortwhisker was so unpopular that other cats might be unlikely to follow his lead if he nominated another cat. Quickly, the warrior reached her destination.
"Excuse me, the name's Speckledclaw. I'm interested in what you have to say, actually," she said briefly, in an uncharacteristic pleasant tone that would've sent rats running.
ooc;; e_e I had a hard time trying to make sure Redstream didn't sound too much like Speckledclaw but I don't think I succeeded anyways. I'm feeling tired after a day of school, so excuse the crappiness of this post.

Patchfur rolled his eyes as he saw Fadedpelt. Great. The she-cat somehow made Shortwhisker even more annoying than he already was. And besides, he just knew she would use her friendship with him to manipulate the stupid tom. /Thank you Redstream/ he thought with relief when the she-cat began to speak. He was actually kind of surprised Shortwhisker wanted to vote for Redstream, since she seemed like a pretty good choice, but under no circumstances did he want Fadedpelt to be leader. Luckily, he didn't think anyone agreed with Shortwhisker, so even if he voted for Fadedpelt, it wouldn't mean anything.
Dingypaw knew exactly what the new cat was trying to do. She was trying to get Shortwhisker to vote for her instead of Redstream! Unlike Patchfur, she actually cared, since she herself was voting for Redstream and the more votes she got, the better. Redstream had already talked to the new cat, and Dingypaw was hoping the new cat would give up her plan. But then again, things were never that easy.

ooc| There has to be at least one character other than Shortwhisker himself who doesn't see through her right off the bat.

ooc: Such as Batkit. x3
bic: The tom glanced up at Fadedpelt. He had seen her before... but he didn't remember where or what her name was. She was in the experiment though, which made her an okay cat. Anyways, Woodstripe was speaking. "I hope Spiderpaw accepts, then!" announced the tabby, waving his tail.
