Kitty, at your service.
_____
Name| Shadowfur
Gender| Tom
Physical Description| Shadowfur is a runty-looking black tom with pale green eyes. His fur isn't luscious and filled out - it's thin, covering a thin frame. His tail looks like a rat's it's so skinny. Shadowfur's left ear is badly nicked. He also has 3 horizontal scars along his left side from the same fight as the nick. They start an inch below his shoulder and stop before his back slopes to his tail.
Views| Being a loner, Shadowfur sees why cats have been obsessing over the need for a Clan. If he ever has territory, it's quickly taken by a stronger cat or a group. In an organized entity, there wouldn't be that danger of getting killed over land. However, he can't stand the Clanners. He's never forgiven his father for trying to sacrifice him. In his mind all cats who want to form a Clan are like his father and willing to trample over others to get what they want.
Kin| Copperpelt (father, deceased) Thintail (mother, deceased) Tinypaw (sister, deceased)
History| Shadowkit and Tinykit were born right before the start the dark season. Both kits took after their mother, lean, wiry and built for speed. During the middle of the dark season, Thintail lost her life to wounds she acquired from the rats while she and Copperpelt were hunting. Thintail was chasing a lizard that ran into a big group of rats, who instantly killed it. Feeling only the need to feed her young kits, she didn't back down when the rats warned her with hisses and growls not to come any closer. The she-cat's mind had cracked after she became a mother, clouding her judgment. Everything she did she did for her two offspring. She didn't consider herself important. It wasn't helped by the fact the she-cat had a one-track mind. Keeping Shadowkit and Tinykit alive was her only priority. No matter what Copperpelt yelled at her, Thintail's instinct to keep her kits alive wouldn't back down. Copperpelt turned tail and ran, unable to watch his mate die.
Their parents had been loners all their lives so Shadowkit and Tinykit only ever saw and talked to the other cats in passing. that sentence is necessary but I have no idea where to stick it. bah!
Copperpelt often told his kits the stories and lore of the Clans long past. He was a Clanner, even though he didn't spend much time with the others in the enclosure, often hoping the other cats would get something together. He was never one to actively try and help those other cats, though. Tinykit ate the stories all up. She always asked to hear the legend of RiverClan from her father every chance she got. Shadowkit could only focus on the present. Wishful thinking about the past didn't help him survive tomorrow. Shadowkit inherited his father's loner aspect and indifference to the other cats. He was never sure if RiverClan ever existed but thought a Clan might be a good idea. Tinykit, especially as she got older, took on an almost fanatic Clanner view.
Just as growing is a gradual process, so was naming. Their training started when they were about to see their second dark season and with it came Copperpelt's interesting way of naming. He would start out calling them by their apprentice names every once in a while. For example, for three days he would call his daughter Tinypaw but on the fourth day return to calling her Tinykit. The process started again for their warrior names when the pair had survived two dark seasons and were about to see their third. Copperpelt tried out different warrior names on both at different intervals. How he saw it, his kits didn't immediately receive their endings. One day it could be Tinyheart and a few days later it could be Tinywhisker. The frequency that he called them by warrior names increased while he narrowed down the choices that would eventually become their warrior name. Tinypaw became fixated with what her name would be. Shadowpaw couldn't bring himself to care much.
On a day when his father decided to call them Shadowfur and Tinystep, they were out hunting for their usual prey - lizards and insects - when they happened upon group of rats tearing apart a cat carcas. Feeling like their food was in danger from being stolen, enraged rats attacked, hissing and clawing, at the three of them. While trying to escape, Shadowfur was dragged down by a rat, or so he thought. It was actually Copperpelt trying to save his favorite offspring. He thought by letting the rats have his son, they'd let him and his daughter flee. Shadowfur struck back, knocking his father away and into the pursuing rats. Shadowfur ran for his life, left side and ear throbbing while his only kin were devoured.
At this point, Shadowfur developed an overwhelming hatred for the memory of his father. Anything associated with him, Shadowfur reasoned, deserved the utmost loathing. The con in him was born.
Shadowfur has seen four dark seasons and has become very agitated with the recent activity of the Clanners. He hasn't yet decided what action he will take but it won't be friendly.
