"Well, I don't want to have a brief chat with the likes of any of you," Smudgeheart spat, backing away from the other tom. "I'm just here because this stupid fight happened to be disturbing the peace." A voice inside him automatically said 'what peace?', but he ignored it.
Instead, he turned around, tail lashing. He was not going to waste his time with this tom and he most definitely was not going to get into another fight. No, that would be pointless.
'Do you know what was the cause of this?'
The brown tabby's ears flicked when she heard the words. No, the words weren't directed at her, but she felt that she should answer. It was because of her that the fight had started, after all. She just hoped that no one would blab about it yet.
The she-cat stood, mewed a quiet good-bye to the other cats, and made her way over to Woodstripe, Orangestorm, and the other cat who seemed to be quite... jumpy? Jumpier than a cricket, if you asked her.
"Oh, I know what caused this," she purred, walking past them. She settled somewhere near Orangestorm and then looked over at Woodstripe.
"...so, Woodstripe," she finally mewed again, "I hear you're starting a little 'mini-clan' or something of the sort. True or no?"

At Beetlepaw's question, Woodstripe smiled and forgot all about the fight. "There is truth and falsehood in every rumor. I have designed a simple experiment to test the efficiency of life under leadership, but it is by no means a Clan. It is, however, what I hope will be a step toward the formation of a Clan. Of course, the experiment also welcomes cats who do not want a Clan to form. You see, this experiment will give first-paw evidence as to what impact leadership has on a cat's life, so cats can now do more than theorize - they can experience it for themselves. If everything said against Clanhood is correct, this experiment will prove it." She cast her gaze over everyone within hearing range. "Are you interested?"
ooc| >< I can't remember if she knows Beetlepaw's name or not.

"If the Clan proves to be a bad thing, it'll show the rest of the cats and a real Clan will never be formed," Patchfur suggested, knowing that many of these cats were probably against the idea of a Clan. "Plus, it'll give you the upper paw in a debate if you've had experience living in a Clanlike evironment," he added. The tom was trying to get more cats to join the experiment. If many did, maybe there would be too many and Woodstripe would have to kick one or two out- like maybe Shortwhisker. Now that many of the cats were talking, he was calmer. Woodstripe's speech, surprisingly, had also helped to calm him down.

A paw lashed at her face, connecting with the she-cat's muzzle. She snarled with pretend alarm, ducked incase anymore blows were on their way to her, and dashed to the side of Grimykit.
Shadestream used his technique of sheathing her claws whenever she tried to strike him, which was now. Swiftly, she raised a paw and slashed it downward on the tabby's striped flank.
Batkit scurried up toward Woodstripe. A ginger-and-white tom was with her; the little feline knew him as Patchfur. So Woodstripe found him after all, he thought. He dipped his head in greeting to them and then tried pushing his way through the cluster of cats.
A loud snarl made him stop in his tracks.
Two cats were fighting, a black she-cat and a brown tom. Batkit yelped when one of the cats came near and dashed back, well out of the way. He arrived at Woodstripe's side soon, just in time to hear a brown feline speak.
"Oh, I know what caused this."
"Really? What?"

"A brown-and-white tom" -- I'm thinking he's orange.

The orange tom frowned at Smudgeheart's response, but Woodstripe's tone caught his attention. It became clear after a split-second that she was addressing him, and he opened his mouth to answer, only to have Beetlepaw answer for him. Closing his mouth into a slight frown, he decided that he would keep quiet for now and let the she-cat do the talking.
Beetlepaw's question spawned the response from Woodstripe that the tom had been anticipating ever since the fight had begun. "I'm interested," Orangestorm said gruffly, though excitement was slowly warming him up all over. "Frankly, I think your reasons for this experiment make some sense, and I'm up for it. I just wanna know, though - when is it going to start?"
ooc;; Ten, Skyriver's talking about Patchfur. =D ... Who is, according to his bio, ginger-and-white. -annoys-

"Ten, Skyriver's talking about Patchfur." -- Yup, I'm aware of that.
"Who is, according to his bio, ginger-and-white." -- Which is not brown. I tend to think of ginger as a light orange... though when I saw crushed ginger at a store yesterday, it looked more like yellowish sand.

Woodstripe beamed with her success. "My plan is to begin once we aquire ten cats. You will be the tenth. If no one objects, we may begin today. First, though, we must gather up all ten participants. They should not be far from here. Allow me to think... we have Batkit and Patchfur present, so that leaves... Spiderpaw, Shortwhisker, Bronzefoot, Dingypaw, Fadedpelt, and Redstream."

ooc;;
"Which is not brown. I tend to think of ginger as a light orange... though when I saw crushed ginger at a store yesterday, it looked more like yellowish sand." Ginger's always yellowish brown to me. o-o Different people have different opinions. Maybe Skyriver thinks of ginger as brown. Anyways, if Patchfur's referred to as an orange-and-white tom too, things might start getting confusing with Orangestorm here. xD
bic;;
Aha! thought Orangestorm. I'm just in time. I'm the tenth. Uncanny. "That's splendid news!" Orangestorm said, deciding that he'd better adapt to fake optimistic attitude to go along with his role as the spy so that Woodstripe didn't suspect anything.
Then he froze, blinking in disbelief, as he heard his sister's name. Redstream was in this too, huh?
... This could be troublesome.
Speckledclaw kept a careful eye on Dingypaw as they neared the group, Redstream on the other side supporting her. The orange feline perked her ears at the sound of Woodstripe calling her name, and began to hurry a little towards the group. She could see her brother there. She could hear the conversation. She could hardly believe her ears.
Was Orangestorm deciding to be pro-clan? It was too amazing to be true, surely.

Me too. ;D

Spiderpaw padded forward, eager to reach Woodstripe. She had heard snatches of Orangestorm and Woodstripe's conversation as she, Redstream, and Dingypaw neared the group of cats. "Did I hear you say that we have ten cats now? Oh goody!" She felt giddy, almost like a kit again, and she gleefully mewed, "Then we can start! Yay!"

Shortwhisker didn't take long to notice that the crowd was now amassing a large amount of Clanners, which compelled him to move closer. "W-we're st-starting?"
"Yes," Woodstripe mewed in response to them all. "I see Dingypaw is on her way? Where are Bronzefoot and Fadedpelt? We can wait a few moments for them to arrive - in the mean time, do all of you know who you would like to nominate for leader? Let us take this into consideration. I know that most of us do not know each other well, so perhaps a discussion on the necessary qualities of a leader would reveal something of value."
