Speckledclaw had sufficiently rested after her one-sided fight with Grimykit and now she was up and about again, she found herself wondering why, after today, she still sought for a rat hunt.
Perhaps it was to distract her. She found that at times, hunting became more or a tool for relaxation than a means of obtaining food or the rush of adrenaline. Either way, the she-cat strolled into an area where the air was heavy with the smell of rats, and quickly spotted a small group gathering.
"Rat hunt?" she asked bluntly, approaching them. "If so, how many cats are there?"

Blackfoot glanced at the newcomer, a brown tabby she-cat. Answering her question, she replied, "Only us so far - Patchfur"-she gestured to him-"and I. One or two more would do, I think."

Patchfur added, "We'd be glad if you joined." Speckledclaw had also wanted to be on the hunting party at the experiment, so he got the impression that she was a skilled hunter. Someone of her expertise would be extremely useful. If she were to join, they could set off immediately. Three cats, one of whom was Speckledclaw, would easily be able to take down a rat.

Speckledclaw was thinking along the same lines as Patchfur. "We should be enough," she snapped, satisfied. "I'll lead the way."
Normally, she wasn't this curt with strangers. She liked to form generally friendly ties with everyone if possible, but at the moment, she was quite in a hurry to get started with the hunting, to distract her from her nerves.
Her nose led her to a stray rat that seemed to be injured. It didn't appear sick, however, so Speckledclaw judged that it would be safe to hunt it. She neared the rat a little more, crouching down into pouncing position, and turned her head slightly to look at the other cats.

Blackfoot was a bit taken aback at Speckledclaw's snappiness. But it was probably just anxiety for hunting getting in the way, she thought.
She trotted after Speckledclaw, noting the injured rat she was crouching near. It smelled healthy, and with its wound it would be an easy catch. She lowered herself to the ground.
ooc| Could I be the rat? I want something to, er, happen =3

ooc Sure you could be the rat. Usually anyone can play the rat, but if you want it to just be you, that's fine too.

He obidiently followed Speckledclaw to the rat she had pointed out. It was wounded, but not sick, which was good. Sick rats could make for sick cats. Patchfur positioned himself on the other side of the rat, so the three of them formed a loose triangle.

The rat sniffed around, searching for food, unaware of the cats surrounding him. He soon would be.
"Are we ready?" Blackfoot whispered, just within earshot of Speckledclaw.

"Yes," Speckledclaw snapped in reply, after approving the position the two other cats were in.
Then, her claws sinking into the sand for a split second, she pounced. The rat had been unaware of their presence even as they had been busy surrounding it, so it would be completely caught off-guard, which was good.

The rat squeaked in surprise as Speckledclaw pounced at it, but it soon regained its sense. It scampered away from the she-cat only to run into the paws of another one.
Blackfoot leaped at the rat, teeth bared. It showed its yellow teeth in return, and she miscalculated her jump, landing next to it. This gave it time to bite her on the leg. She yowled in pain, but snapped at it.
