"There are too many cons here trying to make trouble," Rockpelt mewed evenly, shooting a withering glance at Bronzefoot. "All they want to do is prevent a clan from forming for their own selfish reasons. If we want the experiment to proceed these cats must leave." The powerful tom's voice echoed off the rock walls.

Bronzefoot scowled at Rockpelt. "So," he hissed. "Just because I am a con, you will kick me out. I came to see what it was like. The whole being in a Clan, with a leader and organized hunts and all that. Perhaps I shouldn't have come." His claws unsheathed, and he had to force himself not to leap on the other tom. "Orangestorm nominated Dullpaw, and he had his reasons, obviously. So why are you looking at me?"
He was beginning to loathe Rockpelt. Sure, he was right in that Bronzefoot did not want a Clan to form, but he planned to kick him out. Who cared if his own morals weren't right? This was a free experiment, wasn't it? "I thought," he said icily, "that the Clan was open to all who were not violent against the clan. But you seek to kick me out. Me and Orangestorm and any other con who may be here, although I'm pretty sure it's just us."
He had half a mind to start a fight here and now and teach this cat a lesson. He also thought it might be a good idea to just run away from the experiment, so that he wouldn't have to talk to these dirt-faced Clanners. But that would defeat the whole purpose of him joining in the first place. Still, he knew that what Rockpelt said was wrong. The others would support him, right? He tried to calm down; being the hateful cat couldn't help anything.

"Yeah, yeah, whateva'." Dullpaw rolled his eyes at Spiderpaw. "Even if nobody votes for meh, I got nom'nated, didn't I? So that makes meh somethin' like a mini-leada', ya know..." He trailed off, letting a few more cats speak before cutting in again. "An' hey! I ain't got no 'aggravatin' superiority complex', ole' gal. I dunno what that means but I know that you shouldn't call yer future leada' somethin' weird like that. It's disrespectful, yessiree."

"Future leader?" Dingypaw meowed in disgust. "No one'll vote for you, you know. Stop pretending that you're already a leader. And if you don't know what a superiority complex is, maybe you're not smart enough to be leader. Besides, you're not in a position to call me disrespectful. You haven't respected me, so why should I respect you?" Normally, Dingypaw didn't taunt other cats, but this Dullpaw was different. She had never met a cat as annoying as him.

ooc| "So, I nominate this, er, Dullpaw for leader." -- I burst out laughing. Darky, milady, you are so getting a point.

There had been a smooth running of events for a while, but now Woodstripe's fur prickled in distress at what she heard. "Excuse me - why would the leader pick the deputy based on anything other than leadership ability? This is, of course, thinking in ideal terms outside of personal bias. Being second-in-command to the leader, the deputy is not higher in rank so as to hunt or fight more than other cats but so as to exercise authority."
Dullpaw's nomination, however, didn't phase her at all. She knew he would never reach a position of power and her main concern was securing one for herself.
"Rockpelt has no authority to kick anyone out," she added in a quiet mew before beginning to wash her paw.

Bronzefoot couldn't help but relax a little bit. Like it or not, Woodstripe was in a position of unofficial authority here, and she seemed to be on his side. Well, not really, but she had confirmed that Rockpelt couldn't kick him out, so everything seemed fine, he thought as he sheathed his claws.
Spiderpaw thought about what Woodstripe had said for a moment. Slowly, she nodded. "Okay," she meowed. "I understand what you are sayinng, Woodstripe. That makes sense; I agree."

Patchfur felt relieved that Woodstripe hadn't allowed Rockpelt to kick out Bronzefoot, since he was the cat he had nominated. However, he wondered why Rockpelt didn't try to anyway. Who was Woodstripe to tell other cats what to do? "Rockpelt doesn't have to listen to you," he informed her, in case she had forgotten that she wasn't the leader.

"True," Woodstripe mewed in an even tone, lifting her green eyes to look at Patchfur, "but nor does Bronzefoot have to listen to Rockpelt. The majority of the clowder must be in agreement on it for any cat to be excluded." She raised her voice as she issued a challenge to them all. "Who here wishes to banish Bronzefoot from our midst?"

Ooc: I typed my previous post on the Wii- you have no idea how hard that is!
Bic: He hadn't actually thought that Woodstripe would agree with him, much less have the cats vote on the decision. Perhaps she didn't want to be leader as badly as he thought she did. It didn't really matter right now, right now he had to prevent his nominee from being banished. "I don't," he meowed simply. "Just because Bronzefoot's a Con doesn't mean he doesn't have good ideas."

Bronzefoot could feel his temper raising again, but he tried to at least give off the appearance of being calm. He smiled at Patchfur, thinking, 'Orangestorm won't want to kick me out either, will he? And surely others wouldn't...' He thought about the number of cats who had protested his appearing to support Dullpaw and reconsidered. 'Still, trying to kick me out just because I'm a con isn't the way of the Clan, right? And I wasn't even the one who nominated Dullpaw.' Since he had already said all this, however, he stayed peacefully silent.
