Oh, Rats!

[Darky [Megan]]

Speckledclaw swiftly trotted over to Copperclaw, grinning broadly. "Well, it's not of'en I see such a quick catch - and I've seen a good amount of catches in my time," she snapped - not in intentional hostility, but rather out of habit. "G' work, you two," she nodded at Copperclaw and Sandfur.

"Now, how're we to split this little prize?" Her claws were gently stroking the dead rat.

[Brain]

"Copperclaw killed it," Sandfur mewed. "He should get first pick. And Speckledclaw, you found it."

[zemoufette]

"I wouldn't of ben' able to kill it if ya hadn't bitten the leg," he meowed, setting the rat down But I'd like a haunch." He looked at the rat, it lay limp at his paws. The cats around him were eying it hungrily, including himself. It was a bit scrawny, like most creatures around here, but it would be a good meal.

[Thistle]

Batkit licked his lips appreciatively and stepped closer. He hadn't really had time to do anything in the rat hunt, but their prey had at least been killed quickly. "Let's eat! Let's eat! Stop wastin' time and eat!" He paced around the dead animal impatiently, his stomach growling.

[Brain]

"Patience," Sandfur mewed to Batkit. "If you insist, I'll take a haunch." I have to feed Bluekit, she reminded herself.

[zemoufette]

"A haunch for you then, and a haunch for me," he mewed, leaning down. He gripped the rat's back leg in his jaws, and with one swift movement, he pulled it off. Taking a step backward, he set it down by his paws, waiting for the rest of the cats before he started eating.

[Thistle]

"Then I'll get the belly. Or, umm, half of it." The tabby dashed forward and tore out a piece of flesh from the rat's flank, chewing hungrily. Then he snatched another chunk, savoring the delicious flavour. "Mmmm, yum," he mumbled, plopping himself down onto his haunches.

[Brain]

Sandfur walked up and tore off a hind leg from the rat. Then she began to eat her portion of the prey. "The rest is yours," she said to Speckledclaw.

Speckledclaw nodded appreciatively and leaned down to remove the flesh from the bones with her claws. She had experience with rats, and was able to do this quite quickly, for she preferred enjoying the meat without any bones in the way.

Then she gulped down the flesh, savouring the flavour, and started to clean herself, grinning at the rest of the fed cats.

[zemoufette]

Copperclaw tucked into his meal voraciously, it was gone in a few moments. Pausing, he licked his lips, and then began to groom his paws of the rat blood. After he was meticulously groomed, he straightened up, yawning. He returned Speckledclaw's grin, now that he had a full belly he was in an excellent mood.
