Though Rockfoot's only expression was wide-eyed, his eyes only seemed to get wider and he stepped back a bit when Woodstripe turned to face him. "What would happen to you if you attacked me?" he asked her. It wouldn't be stupid of Woodstripe to attack him. She would probably win, considering her size, and there would be no one to protect Rockfoot. His group of friends was an extremely small one. He shook his head at her logic, mostly because he couldn't see the logic.

"Well," Woodstripe prefaced, sitting and closing her eyes. She took a deep breath before proceeding. "If I attacked you, which is something I wouldn't do, but in this scenario you have presented me with in which I would do so, then you would have a solid reason not to trust me. Also, all the cats who know me would no longer trust me. Furthermore, all the cats who heard about said incident would form a bad opinion of me upon so hearing and would in the future have a closed mind toward anything I tried to convince them of. In addition to that, I have no skill in combat and no reason to attack you, as I would gain nothing and lose everything."
She opened her eyes. "Now how can you still consider this situation unsafe?"

Woodstripe cared about what other cats thought of her? Rockfoot hadn't thought about that part. It's not like he cared about other cats. And yet, could he trust what Woodstripe was saying int he first place? One never trusted the word of another cat - not when it was every cat for himself. He took her speech, however, in silence, with that odd, blank stare that never seemed to go away. The gears were twisting and turning in his head, but everything just told him not to trust her.
"There could still be rats around here," he said simply, in the way of avoiding her question. Then he looked at her, waiting for Woodstripe to continue walking. They were on a walk, were they not?

"Rats, yes..." Woodstripe turned and looked off into the distance as she resumed a slow, ambling walk. "However, I could overpower a rat. You could overpower a rat. We both could overpower a rat. Then we'd have a nice meal to share. Are you hungry? Is that why you brought that up?"

He continued his slow walk after her, still as alert has ever: her speech had convinced him about nothing. "Do I seem hungry?" he asked. Yes, he was hungry, but he felt like admitting to that would be showing a weakness, as well as coming off as an extremely whiny cat. He also wasn't used to sharing meals, not with anyone that wasn't his mother. It would just be weird, not to mention team-hunting. He hardly ever hunted rats in the first place, he usually scavenged and stole.
"Are you good at hunting?"

Woodstripe considered the former question as she padded along. "Well, food seems to be on your mind. This leads me to believe that you desire something to eat at this particular moment. So.... yes, you give me an impression of hunger. As for my skill? Well..." She gave a bashful smile and lowered her gaze. "I do have a little extra size on my side. My brother is better, though. He has an excellent sense of sight. That doesn't mean I can't hunt, though. I'd say I'm decent enough." She raised her chin. "There have been times where I've been able to anticipate a rat's movements before the idea forms in its brain." Her green eyes met his. "You believe me, right?"

The small tom cautiously approached a small puddle, his wary gaze darting around. Batkit, after making sure that no one would bother him, lapped up cool drops of water, sighing slightly as he felt the liquid slide into his parched throat. Then he scented cats. Alert, the tabby cat swiveled his ears toward the scent, his pale eyes catching sight of two felines. They were obviously having a conversation with each other.
They look nice enough..., thought Batkit, observing them carefully. But I can't take any chances yet. He crouched low, hoping to avoid detection, and followed them slowly. If they hunt a rat, I'll eat when they've gone.

The she-cat scented the new arrival and turned to greet him. "Hello there! My name is Woodstripe. Are you doing well this fine day?"

"Wha- what?" Startled, Batkit jolted out of his thoughts, glancing up to see a tabby she-cat. He wasn't sure what she had just said, but her tone had sounded light and her eyes gleamed with kindness.
I can't be too sure, though. Maybe it's a trick or somethin', thought the gray tom, stepping a pace back.

She tilted her head with concern. "I apologize; did I frighten you? I merely asked how you are. I am Woodstripe - and you are?"
