Barkpaw shook his head. "She's my aunt," he said. He tried to take his mind off her. The others were right - it wasn't that serious of a bite, and all she needed to do was clean it. Anyway, like Speckledclaw advised, he needed to concentrate on the hunt.
After Speckledclaw's little pep talk was concluded, he followed her towards the scent - he smelt it, as well. He noticed she was leading the group, but he felt it was all right. She was a strong cat, and obviously experienced with hunting tricky prey.

Spiderstripe cleared her throat, embarrassed about not have spoken up until now. "If you guys would like me to, I could lead the hunt," she meowed, "however, it seems that Speckledclaw would be adequate for the job as well, and there are other things I can do."

Patchfur thought it would be best if Spiderstripe led the hunt. What better way to prove that leaders were not, under any circumstances, better than the other Clan members? Doing a familiar, basic job like hunting, which would require a team effort, would definitely prove to the tom that the power had not gone to her head. At least, not yet. Besides, this way there'd be less fussing from Shortwhisker. "I think you should lead the hunt," he meowed. "It'll show that you still consider yourself equal to us."
