The tabby's hackles rose and she crouched, snarling threateningly. "You aren't going to get my prey, dung-eater. Get away from me, 'cause I'd rather eat in peace than attack you and then eat in peace."
Suddenly, with a yelp, Branchkit scrabbled away just in time from Grimykit's unsheathed claws, barely avoiding his attack. Whirling around, she retaliated by lungeing at his shoulder, trying to clamp her jaws down as hard as she could.

"You don't need to fight!" Rainstripe meowed shrilly, terror evident in her yellow-green eyes. Although she was trying to keep the peace, she was already backing away. Great. One of her first attempts to recruit cats for the Rebellion, and it ends in violence. What was she supposed to do? Intervene and get her fur torn off?

OOC» Didn't Grimykit pounce? Shouldn't Branchkit try to dodge him, or at least get hurt?

Grimykit did pounce, it seems, but I don't blame Thistle for misinterpreting Ten's post. It took me two reads to understand that Grimykit was pouncing.

Grimykit rolled onto his side as she came at him, sweeping upward with his opposite paw to both penetrate and fasten her. His back legs were now beneath his opponent and he kicked out with unsheathed claws to shred her stomach. His green eyes glimmered with an ardent enthusiasm, an irrevocable desire to make Branchkit pay for her own withholdings as well as those of the world.

Beetlepaw had recently decided to watch the fight from a distance. She hadn't been spotted yet, but she couldn't decide if that was good or bad. Fights were so thrilling, even when she wasn't involved. Thrilling, Thrilling.. That's what they were. She loved them; they were just so fun to watch! They made it fun, made everything fun. They added a twist to normally boring life in the enclosure, so of course she wouldn't try to stop it.. But maybe she would just get closer, towards Rainstripe.. As she did so, she noticed who was in the fight: Grimykit and some she-cat. She didn't want to lose the tom in a fight(she had no clue if the she-cat was stronger, but it wouldn't surprise her). That didn't mean she would interfere, though.. How cricket-brained would that be? Very.

She eventually made her way over to Rainstripe and sat down next to her. Since she hadn't seen the whole thing, her first question was this: "So, how'd this start?"

Branchkit gasped with pain as blood flowed from her wounds on her belly. They weren't deep, but they were large. She kicked away from him and as soon as she regained her footing, she launched herself again. This time, she stretched her claws and tried to tear out his throat, trying to end the battle with a quick kill.

Rainstripe jumped as the she-cat seemingly appeared next to her. She relaxed as she realized it was Beetlepaw, but she was still nervous. What if Beetlepaw was angry that she had failed? "Well," she meowed timidly, "Grimykit tried to steal Branchkit's lizard and I was trying to become friends with Grimykit so he could join the Rebellion, so I offered my lizard to him but he ignored it. Branchkit didn't give up her lizard and the two started fighting! I'm sorry, I'll try to do better next time I try to recruit a cat. I just thought Grimykit would be interested since he's always talking about how much he hates Clanners."
