I'd like to help Rolo with a thesis. She needs quotes and evidence regarding the Dark Forest. However, my little sister (who still reads the books) hasn't been able to find any instances mentioning said place. We're looking for, in particular, the part where Tigerclaw attacked Lionpaw, or any scene where Tigerclaw overcomes the supposed limitations of the Dark Forest. Of course, a few lines that described the forest in general might be of use as well.
Do you know where to find any of this?

Well, it says that the shadows seemed to move.

It mentioned that when Tigerstar was with his follower (was it Dustpelt?), shortly before walking off without him. There was something else about wanting to hunt in the same passage. And in both series' someone gets hurt and it happens in real life.
Sorry I'm writing in a hurry.

But do you know what book that was in? Was that one of Erin Hunter's funky descriptions, or do you think it meant something (the moving shadows, that is)?

In the prologue of Sunset, it says that "No moon or stars shone in the sky above his head but tree trunks thick with fungus shed an eerie glow on the bare earth beneath his paws." and it also says, "The huge tom opened his jaws to draw in air, though he did not expect to taste the scent of prey. He knew that the twitching of the ferns meant nothing, and the flickering scraps of darkness would vanish like mist if he pounced on them."
I guess the 'flickering scraps of darkness' is what Brain meant...?
And here's a paragraph in Dark River, when Lionpaw first encountered Tigerstar and Hawkfrost. "'Greetings, Lionpaw.' A deep mew sounded in his ear and fur brushed his flank. Lionpaw bristled with alarm. He glanced sideways and saw the faint outline of a cat keeping pace with him. Am I dreaming? 'We have been watching you.' The outline shimmered beside him - a huge tabby tom with amber eyes that shone in the half-light." So it seems here that Tigerstar and Hawkfrost can leave the Dark Forest and be able to touch and feel other cats.
Does any of this help?

Wow, thankyou for your quotes and help It is much appreciated. Thistle, that first quote is particularly useful. XD I needed that one badly. If anyone can find the quote where a cat (lionpaw?) gets attacked and wakes up in real life with the injury, that'd be fantastic.
