Amberkit instinctively readjusted his direction at Frozenheart's touch and immediately he caught the lizard's scent. He was just about to shoot up and chase it, but remembered his previous attempts and decided that he would catch the lizard differently this time.

Imitating the earlier lesson Frozenheart had guided him through, he put his body close to the ground and began to crawl until the lizard was about thirty centimetres away. Then he pounced.

Frozenheart purred, admiring Amberkit's catch. So the tabby had learned something after all. With his small, light-weight body, he could have no trouble sneaking up on lizards when he focused his energies.

The tom just hoped Amberkit had enough sense to kill it before it squirmed away.

Rainstripe grinned, glad that the kit had finally caught his prey despite her mistake. She hoped he'd kill it soon; her own stomach was rumbling and she wanted to catch something to eat as well. However, she wanted to see Amberkit's hunt completed befor she started her own. There was something about watching a kit's first hunt that made her feel lighthearted, like she was a kit herself.
