Rainstripe almost jumped out of her fur when she heard Rockpelt speak; she had forgotten he was there. She wasn't really insulted, seeing as she didn't even know him. Obviously, Frozenheart was angry, but that was to be expected. "Sorry," she meowed meekly, again. "I'll just stay out of the way this time."

Rockpelt simply snorted and walked away. He had hunting of his own to do. He wouldn't catch any prey sitting around watching Amberkit's weak attempts to hunt.

Amberkit squeaked in indignation and disappointment when the lizard suddenly bolted away. "Where's it gone? Why'd it wun away?"
Amberkit sat down and started sulking. What were they going to hunt now?

Wanting him to get back on his feet, Frozenheart rubbed against Amberkit, an action which was far more likely to knock him onto the ground. They weren't through yet. After all, there was more than one lizard in the walls. And so he set out to find one.

Rainstripe set off to find a lizard as well. She had ruined their hunting lesson and was determined to make it up to both Amberkit and Frozenheart. There were none nearby, so she wandered a little farther away. None there, either. Then she remembered that the wall had many lizards, because that was how they got in and out. She walked slowly towards the wall, and there was a lizard. It was a few pawlengths from the wall, so she herded it with her paws until it was far enough away that it could be caught without running into the wall. When it had stopped running, she noted its location and carefully walked back to Frozenheart. "I found a lizard," she whispered, pointing towards the location.

ooc Oops!
bic Amberkit's large eyes quickly found the spot Rainstripe had located and bounded over to it immediately. The tiny little critter began scuttling away in fright as the kit's paws neared it. "Wizzaaaaaaaaardddd!" squealed Amberkit excitedly, "C'm back here! I onny wants tuh eat'cha!"

Rainstripe flicked the kit with her tail. "Be quieter," she whispered. The lizard was still around, just farther away, so she pointed at it, then beckoned to Frozenheart to come too. "You can continue your lesson, if you want," she meowed, backing away carefully.

Frozenheart grunted and trotted over to Amberkit to grab him by his scruff and pull him back. Unlike rats, lizards required stealth. The tabby would never catch a decent meal for himself if he didn't learn this first. He gave him a stern look before glancing back at where the lizard had been, but it came as no surprise that it was gone now.

Amberkit sensed tension in the atmosphere and shrunk back at Frozenheart's stern glare. He gave a soft 'meep' as he was picked up by the scruff and dragged backwards, looking nervously at Frozenheart. He'd botched up the chance of getting this lizard.
Desperate to redeem himself, Amberkit put his nose to the dusty ground and began sniffing for a whiff of another lizard, unaware that the lizard he'd frightened was but a few mere tail lengths away.

Frozenheart sighed and shook his head with an amused smile. The poor boy was trying his best, wasn't he? With all the gentleness a coarse, burly tom could muster, he used his muzzle to give Amberkit what he considered a soft nudge in the right direction.
