Darkclaw dropped into a hunter's crouch, his gaze focused on the scrawny lizard a few feet ahead of him. The creature was basking in a patch of light, and he would make a lovely supper for Darkclaw.
As Darkclaw stalked closer to the lizard, his mind wandered away from his quarry and over to thoughts of the Clanners that wandered the enclosure.
The black tom had heard mutterings of an experiment being performed by a group of cats, but Darkclaw couldn't be sure. After all, these "mutterings" could just be some frugal gossip or rumors.
If this rumor was true, however, Darkclaw wouldn't like it. Not one bit. A true con at heart, Darkclaw hated passionate Clanners. Goody-four paws, he liked to call them, under his breath.
He hated how they thought having a Clan would fix everything. Darkclaw believed it would make everything worse. He was convinced leaders were power-hungry, manipulative cats that treated their Clanmates like slaves, ordering them to do what they wanted, when they wanted. Why in the walls would any cat support that cricket-brained idea?
Darkclaw tried to shake these thoughts from his head as he padded ever closer to the lizard. For now, he would focus on his empty stomach, not the problem of the Clanners.

Suddenly a rock next to the lizard seemed to move. Rockpelt pounced on the unsuspecting lizard, leaving it with nowhere to run. One swift blow was all it took.

Darkclaw growled under his breath and stood up, glaring at the grey cat who had just stolen his prey. "Excuse me," he said smoothly, "You do know that you just killed my prey?" Darkclaw stared at the tom, flexing his claws. If it came to a fight, Darkclaw was ready.

Rockpelt looked up calmly from his uneaten prey. "Oh hey! Didn't see you there. Were you hunting this?"

Darkclaw blinked, slightly taken aback by this cat's non-hostile tone. He quickly composed himself and said, "Yes, I was hunting that." He pointed his tail at the dead lizard laying at the grey cat's paws.
OOC>> Goody two-paws? Are you serious? ------------ ooc: What's wrong with that? :/ Cat's don't wear shoes, do they?

ooc What's wrong with that? :/ Cat's don't wear shoes, do they? -- Actually, I think it's a pretty neat phrase. =D You should post it up on the terminology thread.

Maybe 'Goody four-paws' would be better, since cats have four paws? x3

"Well, I caught it, didn't I? Wouldn't that make it mine?" Rockpelt silently assessed the black warrior. If it came to a fight, who would win?

Darkclaw narrowed his pale green eyes as he glared at the tom. This cat seemed like he could fend for himself; Darkclaw wouldn't back down if it came to a fight, but he wasn't about to start one.
The black tom swished his tail and shrugged, attempting to look nonchalant. "I suppose it's yours, then," said Darkclaw, and then he started licking a paw. He kept one eye on the tom as he did so, however.
"Who are you?" he asked the tom, after finishing grooming his paw.
