"Yup, tha's right. Grimykit: tha clever, tha strong, tha bold!" he declared, taking a grand, paw-dragging step to annunciate each word. "But not lil'. I sure ain't lil', no no." He turned back to her and rubbed against her, purring, "Wouldja like ta know more 'bout me?"

[Darky [Megan]]

"Oh, you left one out there. It's called 'boastful'," Speckledclaw snapped. She inched away when Grimykit touched her, but regained her composure instantaneously. "To be honest, I'm not that in'trested, but I doubt you'll be wanting to know more 'bout me." The warrior raised a paw and slid out her claws. "And if you do that again, you ain't going to have a choice."

[Ten]

"Naw, I'm jus' bein' modest, really." Chuckling, Grimykit turned and looked over his shoulder at Dullpaw. "Ain't she purdy when she's threatenin' ya?"

[Darky [Megan]]

"You've got some terrible taste," Speckledclaw commented, frowning. "And modest? Put yer skills where your mouth is before you start proclaiming your superiority all around the place. I bet you couldn't kill a lizard."

Speckledclaw then added, as an afterthought, "How old are you anyway?"

[Thistle]

Dullpaw grinned, enjoying the way the she-cat talked to the brown tabby. He cut in when she asked a question. "Younga' than you and meh, that's fer sure," he said, bobbing his head up and down. "Too disrespectful, that cricket."

He jumped off his rock awkwardly, dust floating in the air. He sneezed, then purred toward Speckledclaw, "Ya know, sweetheart, ya could be meh deputy when I make a Clan if ya help meh make one. But that buster ova' there will be meh prisona' and hunt for me all day long." Dullpaw added, shooting a haughty look at Grimykit.

"In fact, cricket, I could use a lizard righ' now." He pointed with his tail at a clump of rocks, where a lizard could probably be found. "Go fetch, cricket."

ooc: Just to let you guys know, Dullpaw is two years old.

[Ten]

"I'z not young!" he protested. "I'z jus' as old as y'all. An' I can too catch a lizard! But I ain't gonna go fetchin' food for tha likes a you, no way, no how." He cut in between Dullpaw and Speckledclaw. "I'mma con, and us cons, we don't do nothin' for cricket-brained Clanners! Ain't that righ', pretty kitty?"


ooc| -snicker- I love how everyone's hitting on poor Speckledclaw.

When Dullpaw called Grimykit a cricket, it reminded me of David Carradine. "Patience, young grasshopper."

When Dullpaw had finished his sentence, Speckledclaw turned a gaze on him that would've resembled white-hot lasers. "A leader wouldn't be half as keen as you when it comes to shootin' their mouths off. If I ever do become a deputy, I'd pray that my leader doesn't end up as someone like you. That goes, tenfold, for you too," the warrior continued, turning to Grimykit, as he remarked about cricket-brained Clanners. "If anyone's cricket-brained right here at the moment, it sure as heck ain't a Clanner."

Speckledclaw drew herself up proudly for a second or two so as to let her words sink in with flair. Suddenly she seemed to decide on something.

"Oh, that's no matter Grimykit, we all know that you're just an old clumsyclaws - go ahead and refrain yourself from being embarrassed all you like. Better safe than sorry, no? That's your motto."

"What? Whaddya talkin' 'bout? I ain't no - I don't - I didn't - I'll catch a dirty lizard!" Grimykit spat before stalking off. He spotted one off in the distance and headed toward it, leaving the Clanners behind. Sure, he'd catch it, but he didn't have any reason to go back.


ooc| "She isn't remotely attractive" -- but she's female. They're like despies that way (at least Grimykit is), though it's fun to see the guys flinging themselves at a girl for a change, instead of the other way around.

[Thistle]

Dullpaw harrumphed, turning his back on Speckledclaw. "Ya don't see a born-leada' when ya see one," he muttered, twitching his tail. But he couldn't help but snicker when the she-cat spoke again.

"Yessiree, I bet dat you're too scared to catch meh a lizard, cricket!" he meowed, grinning as he watched Grimykit stalk away.
"Now tha's a good boy, run and go git it!" He didn't expect the tabby to come back, but it was always nice to have the last laugh.

He looked at Speckledclaw. One more try wouldn't hurt. "Puh-lease? Ya could be the leada' instead, ya know. How 'bout that?"
Liar.

But Dullpaw would do anything to have a cat on his side.

"Well now, in't that exactly the sorta thing a modest leader would say, eh?" Speckledclaw snapped, at Dullpaw's back. She turned to watch Grimykit bound after the lizard, and felt a little disappointed that she had let him get away so easily. Oh, who knew? Perhaps he'd come running back with lizard in paw to laugh in their faces.

Dullpaw's unexpected second attempt caught her by surprise. "Leader? Eh. I'm not fit to be a leader. Not too interested with the role, anyways," Speckledclaw commented, with a frown. "Why do you seem to want to be leader so much anyways? Bossing cats around attractice to you?"
