"Darkclaw," said Darkclaw, looking down at Greykit. He smiled at the kits enthusiasm over wanting to know what he was thinking. "I was laughing at how she...," Darkclaw paused to point his tail at the black she-cat, "Reacted when she nearly tripped over you and your sister." Darkclaw looked away from Greykit and smirked at the black she-cat, his eyes glinting.

"Teach you?" Shadestream was about to scoff and turn away from the young'un when a sudden thought crossed her. She didn't want to be her mentor; she found kits often annoying and much too... bouncy. But this one seemed more serious than others and what if she was a con?

The black cat smiled and said, "I guess I could teach you some skills, but I'm not going to be your or your brother's mentor. It'd be so..." Shadestream paused, searching for the correct word, "Clan-ish, if I went around with the two of you at my heels. And there's enough Clanners around here, if you ask me."
She chose not to reply to Darkclaw's remark, but instead satisfied herself with a spit aimed toward his face.

Darkclaw ignored the she-cat's reply to his remark. Instead, he smiled knowingly at what she had said to the kit.
"You're a con, then?" he ventured, taking a step closer to her. "What's your name?"

"Well," Greykit hesitated before saying anything else. "Uh.. Yeah, I guess that is sort of funny, but I wasn't really paying attention to her that much, actually!" He nodded before looking up at the tom. "Nice'ta meetcha, Darkclaw," he said, turning to look towards Shadestream and his sister, taking a step as soon as the older tom did.

"Yeah, yeah, teach me, teach me!" She nodded furiously but then stopped upon hearing the next words and straightened up, trying to seem more mature. "Clans are stupid," she said, holding back the urge to raise her voice as she did so. "And I don't think it'd be too Clan-ish, though.. That would be like sayin' that havin' your momma or daddy teachin' you how to survive and stuffs is Clan-ish. But, I mean, my parents never taughts me how to do that stuff.." she shrugged as if it was no big deal, which it wasn't to her anymore.

Greykit nodded upon hearing Darkclaw ask the she-cat a question. "Yeah, what's yer name?!" Then he paused, thinking. "Wait.. I'm a con, too, I think! That's good, right?" He asked, looking up at Darkclaw.

"Do you think I'm a brainless Clanner?" she retorted stiffly. "And it's Shadestream."

The she-cat turned back to Whitekit again, a pleased expression forming on her face. "Yes, Clans are stupid, aren't they? The very idea of it is crazy." She paused, thinking of what to say next. She shouldn't press furthur into the subject, but it was tempting. They'll learn about the Rebellion later, she decided.
"Well, Whitekit, let's see how you hunt. You can catch crickets, right?"

Darkclaw smirked at Shadestream again. "Nice to meet you, I suppose. Cons are always good cats in my opinion." He nodded before continuing, "And no, I don't think you're a brainless Clanner."

He glanced back at Greykit. "Yes, being a con is a good thing," he said. Darkclaw suddenly had a strange hope that these energetic kits grew up to be strong cats, and even stronger cons.

"Yeah, really crazy! I don't like the idea of it, anyways, a dumb old leader telling cats what to do.. Pfffhhh," Whitekit agreed before nodding. "Yeah, yeah, I can catch crickets! Only a newborn kit can't. Or a cricketbrain." She chuckled at her own joke, then looked up at Shadestream contently.

"Oh, okay, so does that mean that being a Clanner is a bad thing? I think it is, what do you think?" Greykit asked.
