"Y'see, Greykit, you gotta be cute. That's the key here."
The small voice seemed to come from a white cat, one who was probably equally small. The grey kit in front of her nodded and blinked, seeming like he understood. What they were doing, though, was really a mystery.
"And when the big cat comes by, you gotta look really cute. Like, super cute. And then you gotta flash 'em your cutest look that you gots and hopefully, they'll give in."
Greykit, as the white kit had called him, nodded again, "But what if they don't buy it?"
"Well, Greykit, if they don't buys it.. We're stoned," the she-cat of the two, the white one, explained. She seemed to use 'stone' as a word that meant they were in trouble.
"That's bad odds there," the tom mumbled, but agreed. Now they just had to wait for a big cat to come by.
"Hey, Whitekit," he called to his sibling, "what happens if no big cats show up?"
"Big cats will show up, you cricketbrain. Big cats always show up here. They're, like, attracted to 'dis place or something. I dunno why." Whitekit assured him.
"Oh, okay... But what if they're Clanners?" Greykit asked and both of them shuddered at the thought.
"I don't think they'll give us preys then, Greykit. Let's hopes not that they ain't Clanners." The she-cat said quietly, using the worst grammar she had.
After a moment of silence, the two shrugged and continued practicing 'looking cute'. Sure, they could be considered beggers, but what did they care? ...that's right, they didn't.

A black cat sauntered around with a smug look planted on her face. She was obviously thinking of how well her 'fight' with Grimykit had turned out. Soon that mini-Clan wouldn't even exist anymore. She was so deep in thought that she didn't even notice the two kits until she almost tripped over one of them.
"Hey, kits! Watch where you're going, will you?" Shadestream snorted at the young cats, not bothering to acknowledge the fact that she was the one who needed to watch where she was going. The she-cat glanced down at the pair again.
They were making some strange faces.
"What are you both doing, anyway?" she asked.

Whitekit was about to make a smart remark about how the older she-cat would've been able to just walk around if she hadn't been daydreaming, but Greykit looked over at her before she did, a signal not to.
"W-well... We're sorry, 'onesty," Greykit said quietly, getting the hang of the whole cute thing now. "We're just all 'lone and stuffs, so we ain't been taughts to stays out of other cats ways," he explained.
Whitekit nodded in agreement and then paused. The she-cat had seen them making faces and stuff? That wasn't supposed to happen! They were supposed to be done with that practicing before a cat showed up, but apparently they didn't.
"We's don't knows," the white kit said flatly, "'cuz we's just doin' stupid kits stuffs, me guesses." The fact that she used 'me' instead of 'I' could be considered bad, but it wasn't to her or her brother.

Taught to stay out of other cats ways? Did cats really need to be taught to do that?
Shadestream cocked her head at the two kits but didn't comment about that. Instead, she meowed, "You're both kits, right? What're your names?"

Lightstripe blundered about the enclosure, a little shaken from what had happened in the boneyard. She hated that tom--Grimykit, was it?--so very much. She shook her head, trying to forget what had happened. Maybe if I don't think about it so much... she thought, but then something caught her eye.
There were two kits, a white one and a grey one, but the white one's pelt had drawn her attention over to them. What were they doing there, making faces, and sitting all alone? Where were there parents. Where are mine? Lightstripe snorted, thinking to herself again.

Darkclaw watched as the black she-cat nearly tripped over the kits. He almost laughed when she started snapping at them for being in her way. It was she who was in their way; the kits had just been sitting there, minding their own business, until she came along. Darkclaw grinned to himself. He loved to watch cats bicker among themselves. He found it quite amusing.
Besides the fact of the little drama going on, Darkclaw couldn't help but wonder what those two kits were doing, with no parents or mentors or anything. Maybe he would have asked them, but now that black she-cat was there. Darkclaw pondered on what to do next.

Whitekit frowned at the she-cat's question. "Well, yeah, we are. Isn't it kinda obvious, though?" She looked herself over before glancing at her brother, Greykit. They were both kit's size, so.. Not to mention the fact that they had the word 'kit' in their names. Nowadays, though, you can't really tell - lots of cats with the word 'kit' in their names aren't.. Well, kits.
"I'mma Whitekit," she nodded, before looking over at the grey kit beside her once more. "His name's Greykit." Her attention was soon drawn to a light-colored tabby, though, and she blinked. "Hey, what'sa yer name?" She called to the other she-cat, in a way of calling her over.
Greykit looked over at a dark tom and made his way over there, not really paying attention to his own movements - honestly, sometimes curiosity just got the best of him. "Hey, mister," he mewed as soon as he was over there, "whatta you grinnin' 'bout?"

Darkclaw blinked, looking down at the little kit. He grinned again and said, "Oh, I'm just thinking about something you might not understand..." Darkclaw trailed off and looked away. Without looking at the kit, he asked, "What's your name, then?"

"Where's your mother, then? You shouldn't be wandering alone with only a sibling. It's dangerous if you don't know how to hunt and fend for yourself." A kind of smirk crept onto her face as she said this, as if she was discreetly pointing out that she could hunt and defend herself, while they couldn't.

"I'm sure I'd understand! Tell me, tell me!" Greykit urged, nodding. "Come oooonnn.. tell me and don't be lame! I wanna knoooow.." he said in a whiny tone, before shrugging. "I'm Greykit. Wass your name?"
"My mother?" Whitekit snorted. "Dead. My father, too. The only families I gots left is Greykit. How 'bout you? Where's yer mother?" She mocked. "And dangerous schmangerous. I'm just fine. And since I don't know how to do that, why don't you teach me?" She asked bluntly.
