Woodstripe walked through the enclosure, searching for a certain tom. Make no mistake, her intentions were not romantic.
"Patchfur! Patchfur!" Her voice was not a powerful one, so she resorted to dragging out the syllables in gentle, ushering tones. He couldn't have gone far - in a literal sense.
She was only a couple of cats away from meeting Frailheart's requirement, and Patchfur would be a valuable addition. If he changed his views on the necessity of leadership as a result of the experiment, it would be solid evidence for her to use in debates, which would bring her closer to reforming the Clan.

Patchfur was steaming with anger as he stalked through the sand, his ginger and white tail lashing and his yellow-green eyes narrowed. The nerve of that Shortwhisker! He hated that tom beyond anything else in the entire enclosure. More than Woodstripe, that was for sure. His somewhat-dislike of her was nowhere close to the furious hate he held for Shortwhisker. He was kicking up sand with his paws when he heard Woodstripe's voice. He brightened. Maybe she was going to tell him that Shortwhisker was kicked out of the experiment! Hopefully, he trotted towards the sound. "What?" he growled. "Is Shortwhisker gone yet?"

Woodstripe tilted her head, not sure she understood. "He is not present in the general vicinity, if that is what you mean. Now Patchfur, earlier you seemed to revoke your participation in the experiment. I am here to help you understand that it will be a worthwhile experience for you."

"I'll only participate in your stupid experiment if Shortwhisker doesn't! I hate can't stand him! There is absolutely nothing that can be gained from having him in the Clan! You just want him there so he can be a stupid little minion and follow your every word!" Patchfur seethed, anger obviously tainting his thoughts and words.

"Because you seem unaware, I feel compelled to inform you that Shortwhisker does not see me as a suitable leader. Also, I must remind you that I promised I shall not accept any leadership nomination for this experiment; I will not go back on my word." Woodstripe paused, green eyes glinting as she waited for her words to sink in. "Now, whichever leader you choose is sure to have your interests at heart, or, even if you do not believe that, must feign having your best interests at heart. As such, the leader would be insane not to command Shortwhisker to leave you in peace. And do you think he would go against even a temporary leader?" she asked. Whatever Patchfur thought of the tuxedo tom, they both knew he was obedient to authority.

"Hmm...." Patchfur thought about what Woodstripe had just said. So, she wouldn't be leader, that was good. Shortwhisker couldn't bother him if the temporary leader said not to. And besides, if he could prove that a leader was bossy, controlling, and unneeded, he might get more cats on his side. "Alright." he mewed grudgingly. "Where's it going to be?"

"We have not as of yet selected a base location. At the moment, rather, we are trying to achieve a minimum of ten cats who say they shall participate, at which point we will gather together and begin making the larger decisions. Also, leader nominations can take place. I know you have spent a good deal of time dwelling on who you do not want as leader, but have you given a thought as to who you would like?" Woodstripe inquired with a conversational tilt of her head. "Although I would rather you did not disclose this to her at this time, I am beginning to consider Spiderpaw. Come, shall we walk?" She motioned with her tail toward an area that seemed to be gathering a crowd.

Patchfur cocked his head in confusion. "Spiderpaw? She doesn't like me at all anymore. Besides, she's not smart enough to be leader. She thought I was going to hurt Batkit when I got angry, even though I had been protecting him the whole time! If it had been /you/ who'd gotten angry I'm sure she wouldn't have thought that because you're on her side. I, personally, am going to vote for Bronzefoot, if he decides to particpate. He's a calm, fair cat," the tom replied before falling into step behind Woodstripe, who was leading him to a crowded area.
