[physique] These cats were once advanced, near-humanoid felines, having a bipedal structure and opposable thumbs that made the building of the walls possible. After the traitors yanked the fabric of their society from beneath their paws, they devolved into the quadrupeds we know today, with language as one of their few surviving remnants of civilization.
Cats should be as realistic as possible (while retaining personification). Scribes may purchase rare attributes with lizard tails, but otherwise, stick to more common traits. The cats live in a desert, so long fur wouldn't be in the gene pool.
[psychology] At this point all the present cats and their parents were born and raised (or are being raised) in the enclosure. They are used to it. Some prefer it to the outside world and some even believe this is the only world that exists. Only the insane think of escape.
[weather] In the day it heats up like a furnace and at night freezing temperatures force every cat to huddle together to keep warm. Water is available after the rare rains and the seasonal flooding that pours through the walls.
[hunting] Common prey includes insects, lizards, and the large, fierce rats that can leave serious wounds (infection and bloodloss can make those wounds lethal). Anyone can catch a bug; however, rats require a team to take down in order to avoid injury. Cats may attempt to make a fresh-kill pile but no cat is obligated to respect it.
There are also some special animals that find their way into the enclosure at times. Only staff are allowed to introduce a snake or a hare into a thread, either by a scribe's request or by staff decision.
[apprentices] In light, or lack thereof, of the current anarchy, there is no head authority to give warrior names. The "paw" suffix is optional. Parents decide who mentor their kits (most of the time, they choose themselves) and can give warrior names at whatever point they choose.
[medicine cat] No herbs can grow here, and the cats have forgotten StarClan, leaving no use for a medicine cat.
[time] The moon is also blocked from view, so cats cannot use it to measure time. Instead, they have days, nights, a dark season (which is colder), and a light season (which is warmer).
