Yes, you know that powerplaying is when you control another person's character, but let's get more specific.
Blackpelt scratched Spottedfur's face.
This is okay, right? Of course not. It's powerplay. How?
The role player didn't give Spottedfur a chance to react. Maybe Blackpelt was too slow and Spottedfur dodged him. Maybe Spottedfur tried to dodge him, but he ended up scratching her shoulder. Blackpelt can only try to attack, but it's up to the other role player how sucessful this is.
Now, of course, if Spottedfur dodges every single thing, Blackpelt's role player would have the right to complain. It goes both ways. An attack can't always work, and a defense can't always work.
Does that clear things up?

Blackpelt scratched Spottedfur's face. -- I can fix this
Blackpelt lifted his unsheathed claw, aiming to scratch Spottedfur's face.
Would that be a correct edited version? I'm just practicing, in case I catch myself powerplaying. We all get a little carried away now and again xD

Yes, that would work, Sanni.

You can also do something like
Blackpelt went to scratch Spottedfur's face, though in the flurry of the battle he was unsure whether or not his blow had done any harm.
But Sanni's example is also right.
Thanks for clarifying Ten <3
