Have any of you been to a desert? They most certainly do have flowers. In fact, at a certain time of year, the desert can really be quite dazzling, if only for a few days. At least in an area where a cat could actually live. Unless you guys have cats living in the dunes or something.

"Have any of you been to a desert?" -- Yep.
"Unless you guys have cats living in the dunes or something." -- ....Have you read the plot?

There are no flowers in the enclosure, though. I think.

I think flower could be a usable suffix. First of all, aren't there cracks in the edifice that the cats could see out of? So, after a rainstorm, when the desert "flourishes" (as the guest said), wouldn't they be able to see flowers?

"aren't there cracks in the edifice that the cats could see out of?" -- Mhm.
"So, after a rainstorm, when the desert 'flourishes' (as the guest said), wouldn't they be able to see flowers?" -- Sure. Why would they want to? Looking outside is somewhat equivalent to astronomy and would give other cats a reason to believe you might be insane. It's a reminder of the betrayal and a place they can never reach.

i agree. cats in the clans were named after myths of lions (Lionblaze) and tigers (Tigerclaw). all they would need to know is that flowers are pretty, right?

"cats in the clans were named after myths of lions" -- That's another aspect of the book that doesn't make sense. How would they know about lions?
Anyway, using flower as a suffix doesn't mean the cat is pretty, and not all flowers are pretty. Also, to describe parts of the outside world as desirable is leaning toward insane.
