"Yes, we have," Spiderpaw meowed to Orangestorm, ignoring the sarcasm. "Cats work together all the time during rat hunts. And we get food! That, my friends, is an example of what would happen in an ideal Clan. If more cats worked together to get rat meat, there would be more nourishing and tasty food for cats to eat."

"Exactly!" Redstream agreed. Orangestorm cast a glance at his sister's face. That annoying grin was still there.

The bigger cat looked up at Spiderpaw's remark and retorted, scoffing, "'Alf those rat hunts don't even yield 'alf a rat! And even if they did, I'm sure there's going to be a good deal of squabbling and fighting over that one rat. You've just got a really good example." Orangestorm had been watching the rat hunt from earlier taking place.

"I'm convinced it's a splendid idea," Redstream said, firmly. "Collaboration and teamwork are good things and certainly it would show results!"

[Gosh]

"Well, with more rat hunts going on, there would be a chance to get more food, so less cats would be fighting. Besides, the food would be dealt out fairly." She smiled at Redstream.

Copperthroat snorted, glaring at the pro clan cats with unmasked loathing in his eyes. "You're all fools then and I'll tell you this- try to start a clan and you'll have a rebellion on your paws." He lifted his muzzle high, the loathing changing to cold contempt, "Besides, not every cat thinks the same. Bunch together a group of cats who almost always contradict one another and you're asking for a fight. We'll sooner have blood to pad through then peace."

The tom swung his head around to glare at the cat who dared contradict him, "Would you rather kits were born into this place? Adult cats can barely survive here, alone, and a clan most certainly won't form." He grunted, pausing to try and contain his rage, which was now beginning to show.

[Gosh]

"Not everyone would be forced to be part of a Clan," Spiderpaw meowed slowly. "Those who did, however, would benefit greatly."

Bronzefoot stared at Copperthroat questioningly. "We survive just fine - and without a Clan, too. Why shouldn't kits be born here?" He tilted his head, wondering if the seething tom was crazy. "Besides, it's not like you could stop kits being born, even if you wanted to."

"There is no reason for a Clan," Frailheart meowed from nearby. "You're right." She nodded towards Copperthroat before continuing. "Make cats work together too much and blood will stain the ground for moons. The ones that have the power to survive actually survive, without the help of a so-called Clan. The cats who are weak die. And then even strong cats die, too. Yet new kits are born and the circle of life continues. There's no need for change."

ooc| It'll be fine. All three of my cats are talking, and my posts aren't that much of a pain to read...Are they?

Copperheart glared at Spiderpaw, "Hmph, as if you and your so-called friends would actually stick to that." Then the tom turned his gaze back to Bronzefoot, "Oh, I know I don't have that much power, but think about it- things have never gotten better here. They never will and not every kit is strong. Many won't be able to survive, so why have them at all? They'll only die soon, the greater part of the lot that is."

His ears twitched and swiveled about as a new voice spoke, hearing another cat agree with part of what he was saying made the tom emit a rusty purr. "All of you who want a clan are fools," Copperthroat felt better now that he had more cats on his side, "and you'll only cause a great battle."

[Gosh]

Spiderpaw started to say something, but Bronzefoot interrupted her. "Yes, and you would rather have all cats die out? Cats are, to our knowledge, the only creatures with thought. You want the only intelligent life to die out?"

Frailheart agreed with Bronzefoot, but something told her that if too many cats were against the tom's point of view, he might get dangerous. So she said nothing.

His eyes narrowed and Copperthroat pulled his lips away from his teeth, though his pelt stayed as smooth as ever. "I'd rather that happen then innocent kits born into a life where the only answer is death," He snorted as he kneaded the ground with hungry paws, itching to leap at the cats.

But that would prove nothing.

"Besides," He added, "our knowledge is limited." Copperthroat's eyes flashed, it was a silent challenge. 'Take me up on that cricketbrain,' He thought bitterly.
