'Perhaps I should hunt now,' Spiderpaw thought to herself. Walking away from the puddle of water, she padded a little ways, deciding what to eat. "How about...cricket," she meowed to herself cheerfully. Cricket hunting would be fun. Now all she had to do was find some crickets to hunt.

Spiderpaw lifted her head and scented the air. After a long while, she scented the faint smell of an insect. She was hungry enough by now that she didn't care whether it was a cricket or not, and she stalked as quietly as she could in its direction. As she grew closer the scent grew stronger, and she worked to stay quiet. Finally, the insect she was searching was close enough to see, and she padded forward a fox-length before finally pouncing, pinning down the insect. Greedily she ate it, though afterwords she by no means felt comepletely satisfied.

Rainstripe slunk along the wall, pressing her fur against the tangle of branches. Many insects lived here, as it was the colsest to the outside world. A faint smell of locust brushed by her, and she lifted her head, pinpointing it. Silence was not really an issue here, where sand muffled the sound of pawsteps, so Rainstripe focused on swift stalking. Locusts could fly, and she wanted to catch it before it took off. Still, the only knowledge of its presence came from the scent that the gray tabby she-cat followed, until finally she could see the small insect. She crept up on it, keeping her pawsteps light as she carefully, carefully stalked over to her prey. Rainstripe pounced, missing the locust, but leapt again, this time upwards as it took off and managed to grab it. She devoured the creature, not pausing to taste it. The tabby was not full, and walked around one side of the enclosure until she saw a trapped cricket, straining to escape from a tiny entrance to the enclosure, which it had gotten itself stuck in. She delicately removed it with one claw before eating it, glad she didn't have to hunt for that particular meal. Rainstripe lay down in the sand, looking around at all the cats. Spiderpaw had finished hunting nearby, and there were some cats scattered about that she didn't know.

Spiderpaw looked around and spotted Rainstripe. For a second she had a strange thought-that Rainstripe was stalking her-but she immediately shooed it off. Instead of walking off, she padded up to her again. "How's the hunting?" she asked politely.

A brown tabby crouched nearby. He was young and lean with pale-green eyes, watching Spiderpaw and Rainstripe. He had gained an interest in them the moment he heard the word "hunting". If he waited, they might decide to hunt a rat together - and if they did that, he might get his next meal.

Spiderpaw waited for Rainstripe to answer. 'Perhaps something is wrong?' she thought. 'She doesn't seem all that old. Surely she can hunt as well as I can? Or maybe her parents just didn't teach her hunting very well, and she's better at fighting. Yes, that must be it,' she decided. 'There isn't really any other explanation, is there?' She could probably have conjured up some not very likely explanations from her mind, but she waved them away and waited some more.

His tabby pelt matched the shadows well. He slipped through the middle of the enclosure, heading for a corner. Rarely did he decide to hang around the corners or walls, he only came over for hunting. He gave his brown fur a quick lick, noticing a group of cats nearby. Maybe one or two of them would go rat hunting with him. He had been eating bugs for too long, and it was about time he caught a rat. Or at least, tried to. "Hello," he mewed politely, walking over to the small group.

"Hello," Spiderpaw meowed, turning to the newcomer. "I'm Spiderpaw. And you are?" She watched him, not sure what to think. Was he a friendly cat, or an ambitious one? Ambitious cats were the least trustworthy, in her opinion. He didn't look too much older than herself, but you could never be sure.

Dustwhisker took a seat, turning to look at Spiderpaw. "My name is Dustwhisker, it's nice to meet you, Spiderpaw." He said sweetly. The she-cat looked not to be that much younger than himself, and she seemed very kind. But he didn't know her, and it would be nice to get to kow some other cats besides his siblings.

Hunting, yes? Stonepelt moved forward, silently adavncing toward the group. The gray cat sat down promptly. "Hello." he said, following it up with a curt nod. "I couldn't help but overhear that you were hunting. I don't know about you, but a rat sounds nice." The tom curled his tail around his legs. "Perhaps we could engage in a hunt?"
