Why do you have to buy blue eyes or a tabby pelt in a cat? Just curious

Good question. First, though, before I explain the idea behind it, I have something to clarify: if you want a tabby cat, you don't necessarily have to pay anything. There are several different types of tabbies. Some, as listed, have a price. Others, such as mackerel tabbies and ticked tabbies, are free of charge.
As for the point to having prices in the first place, there are several reasons. Certain genetic traits, such as blue eyes, are not as common as others. By making scribes pay for special attributes, it keeps Starless from being flooded with phenotypes that are uncommon in real life. Of course, this by no means is supposed to discourage or ban those traits. Rather, you have to earn them. It's a way of rewarding scribes for collecting high amounts of LTs.
