What condition are the walls in? Are the cracks in them enough to provide a clear clue as to whether it is day or night?

The walls are not well made and in the process of desintigrating but have a long way to go before they could be called weak. Think stone and trees lumped together.
The cracks are large enough for a rat or kitten to pass through. Times of day are noticable; stars and clouds are not.

Is snow noticeable? Also, is there are chance that a smallish apprentice would be able to squeeze out? I'm thinking that would be pretty interesting as a plottish idea.

"Is snow noticeable?"
What snow? They're in a desert.
"Also, is there are chance that a smallish apprentice would be able to squeeze out?"
...Maybe. However, you'd have to factor in the light transforming him or her once outside. Then I think they'd be stuck.

"That amazing, magical snow" --x
Magic isn't something that makes stuff happen. Magic is something you eat for breakfast.

Does moonlight affect them? If a cloud just happened to be in the way of the moon while one of them was sneaking out, would they be stuck? Also, do the cats themselves know about the anthromorphic qualities they can gain when in light?
Also, this question just occured to me: Where do they get water to live on? Does the rain seep in through the gaps and collect somewhere?
"That amazing, magical snow that appears in teh desert some how by the grace of me." OF COURSE NOT. THE MAGICAL SNOW-MAKING SNOWMAN IS OFF-DUTY IN DECEMBER. He has no time to snow over deserts. >:U

"Does moonlight affect them?"
...um, I'll go with yes. However, it takes total immersion to transform them.
"If a cloud just happened to be in the way of the moon while one of them was sneaking out, would they be stuck?"
I suppose not but clouds move.
"Also, do the cats themselves know about the anthromorphic qualities they can gain when in light?"
It could depend on the family. Some of them might have forgotten.
"Where do they get water to live on?"
Didn't I answer that in the plot?

Ah! Well, thank you for answering the questions. =)
-checks Plot- It seems you did. I must've missed it, or it didn't stick in my brain. Oh well.
