Dullpaw stared in surprise. Then, when realization kicked in, he hurried after the fleeing she-cat and yowled, "Where d'ya think yer goin'? Yer s'pposed to join meh Clan!" He didn't try to pursue her any further, though, because he didn't want to leave his fresh-kill pile unguarded apart from a mangy old elder. He trudged back, muttering something that sounded like, "Stupid lil scamps full o' cheek."
The gray tabby looked up and down Dingypaw, forgetting about his lost ally in an instant when he remembered what he had in mind. "Com'on, we haven't got all day, ya know. We're gonna hunt a big, fat lizard, yessiree." Waving his tail, he bounded away from his territory and looked around. "Ya see one?"

Obviously Dullpaw didn't know that elders had bad eyesight. But she was still hungry, and had to hunt anyway. The only time she managed to spot a lizard was when it was hanging from the wall, a clear contrast that was much easier on her eyes than trying to fin a lizard in the sand. She beckoned to Dullpaw with her tail, pointing to the lizard.

"Goodie," he said in a low voice. "Now, listen here. I'll look fer a ledge an' try to scare it down, 'kay? Then ya come ova' an' kill it." He nodded importantly and looked around the wall, searching for a piece of wood that jutted out. "There's one, yessir." The tabby clambered up a rock and launched himself at it. Landing neatly, he growled, "Move yer butt, lizard-face." He waved a paw at the lizard, trying to startle it. It worked, but not in the way he wanted. "Down! Go down, not up, idiot!"

Dingypaw had to bury her muzzle under some sand to prevent herself from laughing. And she had thought Dullpaw couldn't get any stupider. This would be the perfect time to run away, but she wanted to steal the lizard first, or at least eat some of it. But stupid Dullpaw was messing up everything! How hard was it to make sure a lizard ran down? About as hard as eating it, seeing as lizards were terrified of everything. "Bring it down here, you idiot!" she hissed, wishing she had a better cat as her hunting partner. Even she could hunt better than this!

"Ya can't call yer leada' an idiot!" meowed Dullpaw indignantly. Then he jumped, as far as his short legs would take him, and scrabbled at the wall before falling the few feet down. He clumsily picked himself up from the sand - what happened to the phrase 'cats always land on their feet'? - and looked up at the lizard. At least it had come down and was squatting right next to the wall. "Come'on ova' here, to the otha' side," he ordered Dingypaw. Putting on a menacing face, Dullpaw charged the lizard.

Dingypaw hobbled over to the other side as quickly as she could, which was just quick enough. Though the sandy ground made it hard to grip and pounce, she managed to poune on the lizard's head when Dullpaw chased it over. The lizard squirmed and tried to get away, but it was out of luck. Dingypaw swiftly killed the lizard and looked around for Dullpaw. She'd have to see how much he wanted before eating it.

Darkfur was without cats to prattle to bored. He wanted to sell something see or do something interesting. Admittedly he'd had the chance to talk to somecat today, but the discussion had ended with a swipe of claws across his face. The tabby didn't mind pain too much, but it was unfortunate that when he'd been in full flow about his ideas, he'd been so rudely cut off. Luckily, it seemed his wishes were being fulfilled. From a small distance off, he stopped and watched a very stupid tom-or so he appeared-talking to lizard, with an old-looking cat next to him with said lizard, now dead. How interesting. "Hey there." He said. "Are you two trying to hunt together in that space?" Maybe they were doing something similar to his own ideas, how cheering.

"No," meowed Dingypaw sarcastically. "The lizard just happened to die right here in my paws and cricketbrain over here just happened to be chasing it this way." She stepped forward, protecting her kill, trying to make herself seem tougher than she actually was. Maybe she could bluff him into thinking so, but if it came down to a real fight she'd have to force Dullpaw into it somehow or get away fast.

Amberkit decided to pick this very moment to lumber into the scene. He had recognised a few cats' scents in this area and was beginning to starve, no less. The scent of lizards was also invitingly luring him over, and it was all he could do to keep from drooling.
He very nearly bumped into Darkfur, but managed to stop just in time. At the mention of lizards, his ears visibly perked, and his grey eyes widened. 'Wizards?" On cue, his tummy grumbled.
ooc I wonder if this means the start of a rather silly little 'Clan' led by Dullpaw. Or if Dingypaw will be able to save Amberkit in time.

Dingypaw grabbed the lizard in her mouth and rushed over to Amberkit. "Take this lizard. Kits should always eat first." If he ate the lizard, it'd kill two crickets with one pounce. She wouldn't have to worry about Darkfur taking the lizard and innocent little Amberkit wouldn't get suckered into Dullpaw's Clan. The elder planted herself in front of the kit, her eyes glaring defiance at Dullpaw.
