"What are? The branches themselves?" --x ... No, the points on the branches. Thorns.
"Try looking at some of those." --x I already did *headdesk* What about blaze or streak? Would those work?

"No, the points on the branches. Thorns." -- I'm thinking not many trees available would have thorns. What species do you have in mind?
"What about blaze or streak?" --
Makes me think of streakers and people getting high. How does a cat have a blaze or a streak?

"What species do you have in mind?" --x Perhaps a Crucifixion Thorn?
"Makes me think of streakers and people getting high." --x XDDDD
"How does a cat have a blaze or a streak?" --x Perhaps a small blaze or streak of fur on their face, chest, etc. Or they could also look like a blaze or a streak when they're running.

"Perhaps a Crucifixion Thorn?" -- Hm. Would they use that as building material?
"Perhaps a small blaze or streak of fur on their face, chest, etc." -- A white marking? Seems an insignificant thing to name for.
"Or they could also look like a blaze or a streak when they're running." -- Streaking. -snort-

"Hm. Would they use that as building material?" --x It's certainly big enough.
"Streaking. -snort-" x) So, I guess I'll just name him Nightheart.
I added in a part about Thornclaw's death. It kinda bothered me that he was just... there, and I never mentioned him again.

"It's certainly big enough." -- I'm not sure if you're talking about height or diameter, but after some cursory research I've found other trees they'd have used which have thorns as well, so the prefix is fine.
