Physical Description| Shadowpaw's fur is as black as the night, and her eyes are a deep green. Her lean body tells that she is a fast runner. She is: she can sprint eighty feet before dropping from exhaustion and waiting ten minutes to catch her breath, and her ribs show through her sleek black pelt.
Views| Shadowpaw supports a clan because other cats in her position would starve without her prodigious speed. She also believes a clan should have a leader to guide them in the right direction, away from murder and theft.
Kin| mother: dead; father: dead; brother: dead.
History| Shadowpaw and her brother were raised by two devoted Clanners. They clearly named her for her jet-black coat, which blends in easily with the darkness of the enclosure.
On a dark night when Shadowkit was almost old enough to be apprenticed, rabies broke out in the enclosure. Her mother tried to hide her kits by rearing back on her hind legs and pushing them through a small hole in the wall about one and a half feet off the ground. She put Shadowkit in second so that her brother could hide behind her camouflage pelt. If a cat did see her, they would have thought she was a shadow. Her brother wasn't so lucky: there wasn't enough room in the hole so he fell out the back and, unable to climb back up, eventually starved to death. Only Shadowkit, paralyzed by fear, survived.
She then barely survived on food given to her by generous cats and the few lizards she managed to chase down. While she is fast, she did not know how to use her claws properly, and her kills are rarely what you would call "clean." She usually killed a lizard by by a lucky bite or slash or by bashing its head against a rock.
After a while, she met Beetlepaw, who decided to mentor her.
