Eragon's fail enough as it is, but the movie was so bad I laughed.

That was the Eragon movie?! I just thought it was a different story, but they changed the characters to look like Eragon and Saphira.

Haha no. Though I can understand why you would think that. They spent all their money on the dragon, methinks.

I loved Hunger Games. Funny because I'm not in it's target demographic AND most of the time, I hate YA books. But somehow, something about it captured my imagination I was... well, not /as/ fond of Catching Fire. It was a good book, yes, and the ending was fantastically clever... but I found myself being a little disappointed. I had been really looking forward to watching Katniss mentor some tributes. I thought it would be fastinating watching it... seeing her go through the heartache and use stategies to help her tributes win (like the little 'hints' Haymitch gave during the games.) What actually happened was all well and good... but it felt a little repetitive. That said, Cinna came through. He was amazing again. And what happened to him nearly made me cry (which is some feat, I don't cry at fictional things.)

So thanks to all y'all's prodding, I got around to reading the Hunger Games. Not bad, I must say, though the beginning and the ending were both dull. The middle makes up for it. I know, but it'll probably be rated R. I doubt they can fit The Hunger Games into the PG-13 limits. Since it was aimed at preteens and younger teens, they're not going to make it anything higher than PG-13. "Meh, they'll probably mess it up like they did with the Harry Potter movies." --- Or Eragon. They really ruined that one. That's what I heard, but it's not all their fault, as they didn't have as good of starting material. Back on the subject of Catching Fire....It is so good! /end Yoplait commercial quote After how the Hunger Games ended, I'm not interested in reading Catching Fire. The whole "oh do I love Peeta or Gale?" dilemma... not what I'd enjoy. I know a girl (irl) who read it and she said it focused on that. Rue and Prim annoyed me, in particular with the constant comparisons. In fact, Katniss' whole family relationship I found hard to empathize with. That's a personal thing, I know, but I didn't like how the author made the two little girls plus her mother into such obvious plot tools. The author did seem to have actual knowledge about archery, though. I've been on an archery team before. Only sport I've ever been somewhat good at. Anyway, yeah, it had some good action.

But how? That's what I'm wondering. They have people killing each other!

True, but they could've at least READ the book.
And yeah, if you're not a love-triangley-type-person, you won't be interested in Catching Fire. I am, though. I liked the end a lot better. I was reading without understanding, just so I could get to the end. I don't think Catching Fire is as good as the Hunger Games. I think it's supposed to be a sort of lead-in to the third one, which will be epic. Kind of like Pirates of the Carribean, in my opinion.

"They have people killing each other!" -- People can die in PG-13 movies.
"And yeah, if you're not a love-triangley-type-person" -- My only experience with love triangles is Twilight. So, yeah...
"Kind of like Pirates of the Carribean, in my opinion." -- The first one was the best.

Well, if all the death scenes in the Hunger Games can fit under the PG-13 guideline, that's good. Then maybe my parents will let me see it.

Ouch. Well, I've read a lot of books where love triangles are pulled off well, so I don't have as low an opinion of them as if I'd only been exposed to Twilight.
The first one was the best. ----x----
Yeah, but the third one was better than the second one. That's what I think the Hunger Games will be like. The first will be the best, then the third one, then the second.
