I've heard (or perhaps read) that the reason Holes was so faithful to its source is that the author was involved in writing the screenplay

That would make sense.
Luckily, Suzanne Collins will be involved in the Hunger Games movie (I read it somewhere) so it won't be a fail-fest.

That makes a lot of sense. Holes really was faithful to the book.
&& yay! I look forward to the Hunger Games movie, it ought to be action-packed.

I know, but it'll probably be rated R. I doubt they can fit The Hunger Games into the PG-13 limits.
