Palepaw unsheathed her claws. She wouldn't spring on this stuttering cat just yet, but if kept on going like he was now...
"I's ain't no Clanner, and I's never will be!" she hissed, spitting at him. "Yous Clanners would take one look at me and call me worthless!" She lashed her tail. "It would neve' be betta for me to join a stupid Clan," Palepaw finished, looking furious.

"No, the Clan would have it good, but I would never want to join a Clan. First of all, I don't like being bossed around like a helpless kit. I'm smart enough to make my own decisions. Second, I don't like the idea of so close to other cats all the time. I mean, sure it's okay for a little, if they're your friends, but I don't want to spend every moment of my life surrounded by cats!" she meowed, shuddering. "It wouldn't work out, me being in a Clan. And so many other cats don't want a Clan, I just think it's unfair, since the Clanners would catch all this food and leave none for us. After all, one of the things those Clanners promise is well-fed cats, all the time. So no, I'm not a Clanner. I never was, and I never will be," she replied, fur bristling with anger.

"Mhm," the tabby mused, agreeing with what Palepaw said. "It is nice to meet fellow Cons, no matter who they may be." Unless they're super annoying, she added in her thoughts, but decided to not voice that one. She nodded in agreement with what Palepaw and Rainstripe had both said, before deciding to speak her own opinion on this topic.
"I, for one, think that a Clan would be great," she hesitated for effect, a smirk finding it's way across her face, "for a complete cricketbrain who can't take care of his own self." She shrugged simply, before studying the tom over. Hadn't someone said something about him before or something? Huh.. For a moment there, she couldn't recall, but, then, she nodded with recognization as she took a guess at who it was. Keeping her gaze on the tom, she spoke, "Shortwhisker, am I right?"

Now Rainstripe was sure Shortwhisker was a Clanner and the other two cats were cons. Was Palepaw in the rebellion? She wanted to ask, but didn't want to let Shortwhisker know. If she wasn't, she'd be a great addition to it. Shortwhisker being a Clanner, she asked, "Are you in that Clan-experiment-type-thing?" she asked, not knowing exactly what to call it.

"Y-you are sp-pending every m-moment of your life s-surrounded by c-cats!" Shortwhisker pointed out. Then he turned on Beetlepaw, stuttering, "Wh-why d-do you c-care?" However, he was proud to answer Rainstripe's question. "Oh y-yes, yes, I a-am. All of you sh-should join it t-too!"

"Dunno," Beetlepaw answered flatly, shrugging. "Just wondering, because someone told me about you before. That you were annoying to be exact. I guess they were right, though, you know?" She didn't really expect him to agree with that, honestly, and she rolled her eyes upon hearing his statement. 'All of you should join it blah blah blah,' she thought mockingly.
"Nah. I'm fine without it. I mean, after all, that's not the only group to be in around here. The other one I know of is cooler," she said, not intending to say what it was at all.

"Not closely like I would be in a Clan. If I was in a large crowd of cats and I felt frightened, I could always find a space where I could be alone. If I was in a Clan, I would spend most of my life in a crowd of cats, even sleeping in a crowd. I don't want that. And like I said before, I don't need a leader to make decisions for me. I can make them all by myself because I'm not some helpless kit!" she replied. Why was Shortwhisker a Clanner? Maybe she should ask. "So, why are you a Clanner?"

"Ha, honor!" The brown tabby snorted. "We're not supposed to live in a Clan. It's our choice and, if we don't want to, we shouldn't have to. Besides, have you ever heard the old Clan stories about the rogues and loners and whatever?" She added, "Wouldn't all cats who didn't join the Clan be considered that? And in the stories, the rogues and loners were always chased out of the cats' 'territories'. So, for those of us who don't join the Clan if it were to ever form, which I'm sure it won't, life wouldn't be so great because the Clanners would be taking the food, like Rainstripe said, and because we might even be chased out of our own.. homes, I guess you could say. So, don't you think it's selfish of Clanners to do that to all the Cons by forming a Clan?"

i assumed there was stories of rogues, because there are stories of the clan that have been passed down, correct? if not, i can change it. XD
