So if he was harsh and all that, why didn't he straighten her out? --x-- He did.

"He did." -- Then she wouldn't be so sassy after all, now, would she?

Then she wouldn't be so sassy after all, now, would she? --x-- After a few punishments, she stopped acting like that in front of her parents. But she still is when they're not around.

What about her mother? --x-- She acts stubborn and all, because her mother wasn't known to give punishments much so she thought that she could do whatever she wanted.

No, I mean, you said she stopped acting like that in front of her parents. Do you mean both her parents, or just her father, since her mother didn't discipline her?

Just her father.

"because her arrogant personality makes her think that if there was any leader at all she would be ordered around all the time," -- Her personality doesn't make her think that.
"so she got into trouble often," -- How could it be often if he put an end to it?

Her personality doesn't make her think that. --x-- Then should I take it out?
How could it be often if he put an end to it? --x-- *goes to fix it* Is it better now?

"Then should I take it out?" -- That, or rephrase it.
"But gradually, her punishments became fewer and fewer since her father corrected her rather harshly." -- This sentence sounds contradictory.
