ooc| Woodstripe has rounded up Batkit and Spiderpaw (look, all the ages represented! ....moving on) to go with her on a recruiting mission. They're looking for eight Pro-Clan cats - but don't let that stop you from bringing in your Anti-Clan characters. Let's make this interesting.

"Why don't we begin now?" Woodstripe proposed. With a flick of her tail, she gestured for them to come along. She knew some cats took comfort in staying close to the wall, so this should be a prime area to start with. Rotating her ears, she glanced around for any cats nearby whom they could approach.

Patchfur was padding next to the wall, his paws sinking into the sand. With a hiss of distaste, he withdrew his paws and licked them clean, only to have more sand cling to the wet fur on his next step. The tom rolled his eyes in irritation, before the scent of some other cats caught his attention. Being a social cat, he trotted over. "Hello. What are you doing here?" he asked politely.

Speckledclaw was walking along the wall as well, returning from a hunt, as usual. The strong scent of cats flooded into her nose very suddenly, familiar scents, and she peered forward, recognising the faces of Spiderpaw and Woodstripe.
She wasn't the only one. Redstream, trotting self-consciously behind, also recognised the two. Unlike Speckledclaw, who took no notice of the cats, Redstream went forward to greet them.
"Hello there," she said, seeing that another cat had also just said hello. "I'm Redstream, I believe I've met some of you before."

"Okay." The tom padded after Woodstripe. Parting his jaws slightly, he scented the air and almost immediately noticed another cat. The stranger was larger than him, but his tone of voice was pleasant. Still, he felt a little uneasy, as he did when there were lots of unknown cats around. But that didn't mean he had to be rude.
"Hi," mewed Batkit, dipping his head slightly. He wasn't sure how to answer his question, though. Maybe Woodstripe should explain. He glanced quickly toward the older tabby she-cat, wondering what she would do with the patched tom.

Patchfur was a little confused as to why an apprentice, a kit, and a warrior were all together. He wondered if the apprentice was the warrior's apprentice and the kit was her kit. He didn't want to ask though, in case he was wrong. "Who are you?" he asked the kit kindly, dipping his head so his eyes met the kit's.

"Salutations to all," Woodstripe mewed. "Batkit is here with me on a mission - we seek volunteers for an experiment. Would either of you be interested? "

Patchfur tilted his head curiously. "An experiment? What do you mean? Oh, and what's your name?" he asked. He wondered why the she-cat didn't get more specific- it was a little suspicious to him. The tom wanted to check before he got himself into something he didn't want to be involved in.

The tabby dipped her head. "My name is Woodstripe - and I was hoping you'd ask," she told him with a bright smile. "You see, as cats are in constant disagreement over such matters, I decided I would put Clanhood to the test. Those who choose to participate will all work together, something like a Clan, with one cat as leader and another as deputy, for a set amount of time. This is to create concrete evidence to be used in debates. After the experiment, you can say what real Clan life is like, rather than estimate based on stories."

Patchfur backed away immediately, his eyes narrowed. "Wait a minute. I want a Clan, of course, but I don't see what a leader does besides force every cat to do whatever they want. I don't want that. I want all cats to have power. If the leader and the deputy are the only ones with power, that means we have no power and they won't listen. All I want is for everything to be fair. All cats could have a say in their lives, and one cat woudn't be the leader. We would all be leaders of our own selves. And if a big Clan decision has to be made, we all decide. We compromise and work together, so we all have a say in it. A leader would never do that. They'd just choose one thing without talking to the rest of us," Patchfur meowed firmly.

Woodstripe sat and tilted her head, listening to his opinion with tolerant patience. "I see," she meowed after a pause. "So how is it that you are sure of these things? That is, how do you know what a leader would be like? Have you lived under one? Oh, and - my apologies - I don't believe I caught your name."
