"You have your story right. But in my clan, we would all decide on decisions. Disabled cats incldued. They would be able to do anything that they could to help the clan. They would use their strengths and not be forced to do anything that played on their weaknesses. They have their strengths, like Frailheart said. They don't need to be protected. That's why my clan is a better idea. A leader wouldn't understand about that, because they aren't disabled, but if we all made decisions the disabled cats would be able to control their own lives. They'd be able to /do/ things," he meowed.

"You t-talk about the elders' d-den like it's so h-horrible. Really, I d-don't see w-what's so b-bad about not having to r-risk my life in a hunt or b-battle. Now listen here, you aren't d-disabled, yet you s-say a leader w-wouldn't understand disabled c-cats as much as you do, b-because the leader w-wouldn't be disabled. That's d-dumb."

"What's the point of life if you're just sitting around all day long being fed?" Frailheart meowed. "Shortwhisker, you said that you wanted a Clan because you wanted a better life. But those disabled cats out there who would be put in the elders' den may have an easier life, but how would sitting around all day be a life worth living?"

"How w-wouldn't it be?" he retorted. "If having a p-point to your life m-means coming c-close to d-death all the t-time, I don't w-want a point t-to my life. Easier is b-better."

"If you did no acts to distinguish yourself from everyone else, then wouldn't it be as if you had no personality? Plus, just food and water day in and day out..seems boring to me." Frailheart paused, then added one last thing. "If disabled cats were treated this way, then ordinary cats might feel envy of them. This could unbalance the harmony and order that cats supporting a Clan always blab about."

"But what if disabled cats don't want to be treated that way? What if they want to do things? I, for one, would feel pretty useless if I just sat around being fed," Patchfur meowed. "I may not understand disabled cats, like you said, but I think I understand enough to know that, unlike you said, they might actually want to do something. Why do you think they'd want to sit around all day, hm? And even if they wanted to, why should they? That's unfair to the other cats. They could use their strengths to help the clan in some way."

ooc| I find it odd that Patchfur is still arguing with Shortwhisker while Frailheart disses Clan cats. -shrug- I guess Shorty is more despicable than I thought.

"P-personality isn't h-hunting and I don't c-care if things are b-boring. It'd be b-better than the w-way things are n-now. Plus, I d-doubt anyone would w-want to be d-disabled. B-besides, it's n-not like there's anyth-thing a b-blind or deaf cat c-could do to help th-the Clan," the tom replied with disdain.

"What?!" Patchfur screamed, his fur standing straight up along his back, eyes glaring hatefully at the cruel tom in front of him. "Like I said before, blind cats have a better sense of smell and hearing, both more useful than eyes in hunting! And what about Frozenheart? You think he'd /like/ sitting around all day feeling worthless? He can fight. He can even hunt. And you're saying that for something that was totally not his fault, he should live in the elders' den despite the fact that he can do much to help the Clan, despite his deafness?! That is the most unfair, discriminating pile of rat dung I have ever heard!" The tom's muscles tensed and his claws dug into the sand, teeth bared in anger. He was ready to leap on the small tom if he made one more comment. One more comment, and Patchfur's claws would be at his neck. Though he usually went out of his way to avoid battles, this was different.
Ooc: Well, Patchfur feels that his solution would fix all the issues Frailheart has with Clan cats. I'd like to see Shortwhisker blinded, see how he feels about spending his life in the elders' den then!

"Well, you should care," said Branchkit firmly, feeling a little shocked by her own words. She had never spoken that way to an older cat than her, but he was, after all, irritating. Very irritating, and she was tired of listening to his insults and all. "Blind and deaf cats are all special in their own way. How would you feel if you were blind? You wouldn't feel the same way toward disabled cats as you would now, would you?"
The she-cat was glad that Patchfur was on her side, at least, for now. But who is Frozenheart? Listening to the rest of the tom's speech, she figured out that one, Frozenheart was a tom and was deaf. Two, he could fight and hunt.
Maybe if Shortwhisker sees this Frozenheart hunt and fight, then he might change his mind about disabled cats, thought the young feline, though she wasn't too sure. The black-and-white tom was unpredictable. One moment he was telling her to shut her mouth, the next saying that she could understand better than an older cat.

For once, Patchfur was on Branchkit's side. "Yes, I agree!" he shouted. "What if you were blind, hm? How would you feel about disabled cats then? Would you like to be called useless? Didn't think so. Blind and deaf cats can help the clan! Don't just push them aside like so much rat dung becauseof something that wasn't even their fault!"
