Rolling to his paws, Grimykit snickered and began to circle as well. "Attack first? I dun need ta. 'Sides, yu'll be outta here soona'nough. Ya's bleedin' more than I is."

The tom snarled and flashed out a paw, claws trying to rake through his opponent's flesh. "I won't go until you're dead," he hissed, teeth bared and back arched. "I'll break your neck and leave you for the rats."

Grimykit evaded the paw with a hop to the side. "Sure talks alotta dirt fer a cat who can't land a blow, don't he?" he asked the others, assuming they were still there. He didn't look to check as he was confident that cats would want to watch him.

Slatefoot suddenly paused. It was clear that his clumsy paws wouldn't help. And playing dead wouldn't work either. Maybe a few blows at his pride will make him attack first.
"Stupid, dumb, rat-faced, hollow-headed, cricketbrain!" Slatefoot called out, scorn and contempt in his voice. "You can't catch a dead cricket if it sat right in front of you!"
"If you're so brave, why don't you attack first?"

Orangestorm rather thought that Slatefoot's new tactic would be an effective one. Grimykit was certain to fall for it, what with his quick temper and huge ego.
The orange tom had withdrawn his claws, his interest in the fight clouding his annoyance. He returned to his gruff, calm demeanor and concentrated on the match through his lime-coloured eyes.

"Bravery?" Grimykit repeated with contempt. "That dirt's fer idiot Clanners. An' speakin'uv idiots..." He dashed forward to Slatefoot's side and slashed unsheathed claws at his flank. Without pausing long enough to know if he had hit his mark, the tabby tom sprinted to Slatefoot's opposite side. There he lunged for his shoulder with bared fangs.

The blue-gray tom retorted, "So does that mean you're a coward? At least you got one thing right to-" He broke off with a yowl as the tabby darted toward him. Slatefoot jumped away from the blow, so that the claws only raked air. He wasn't very prepared for the counterstrike, though, and wasn't able to retaliate.
As soon as he saw Grimykit's tall figure approaching at his other side and his gleaming teeth, he dropped onto his side and starting kicking so that instead of meeting the soft flesh of his shoulder, his opponent would encounter his outstretched claws.

A large, striped she-cat strode toward the brawl. "I am glad that you concur, Patchfur," she mewed. "Now I would think it prudent to --"
Grimykit reeled back, face gashed, then dashed around and lunged at Slatefoot's exposed side. In the process he cut across Woodstripe's path and kicked dust into the air.
Coughing, she sputtered, "Grimykit, what foolish escapade is this?"

Patchfur slunk along behind her, close enough to Woodstripe so other cats would know he was with her little group, but reluctant to head further into the battle. The ginger and white tom didn't want to get injured for no reason, and he knew how easy it was to get accidentally scratched or bitten in a fight. "Um, Woodstripe are you /sure/ we should be stepping into the middle of a fight?" he meowed skeptically, wondering if the she-cat realized how foolish this was. And some cats wanted her as their leader!

Slatefoot snarled as his opponent slashed his flank; he leaped up and whirled around, snapping his jaws viciously at Grimykit. He pulled back, though, when a tabby she-cat padded forward and spoke. "This idiot's name is Grimykit?" meowed Slatefoot incredulously. Then he sneered. "Suits him."
Batkit trotted rather absentmindedly after Woodstripe, glancing at other cats that passed by. When he finally looked at Woodstripe, he flinched. Dust blew over him, causing him to sneeze. A battle? It certainly looked like it.
