Rainstripe totally forgot her argument- she knew she was right anyway. She would never choose to be a follower, which meant that if she had to join a clan, she would be a slave. Besides, you could be skinny and still live. She was living proof of that. The she-cat ate enough food, but barely. Although in her opinion, the hunger in her belly was better than being forced to do another cat's bidding. All this, however, was forgotten when the two toms began to fight. Rainstripe yowled in surprise, then dashed away tripping over a rock as she did so. Then she realized something as she stood at safe pace. The white tom had stuck up for her through all the tom's assualts- which never answered her questions in a convincing way anyways- and now she would stick up for him. Terror rushed through her heart as she rushed at the gray tom, but she knew it was the right thing to do. Rainstripe ran to the enemy tom, yowling, and lashed out at his shoulder with her claws.

Sandwhisker leapt back a pace as the toms broke out into a fight, her heart pounding. Swivelling, she readied herself to run but then was suddenly struck with guilt. Frozenheart and Rainstripe had argued on her side and had been the only reasonably friendly cats she had met for a while. Sighing in irritation at her own conscience, the she-cat whipped around and leapt onto Smudgeheart; trying to drag him away from the others.

Smudgeheart struggled some more and resisted the urge to slash at Rainstripe's face. She was a she-cat. He wasn't going to hurt her! Though he did wonder why she attacked him.. what had he done to her? All he remembered doing was speaking to her about a Clan. Nothing harmful as far as he could see.
The tom wasn't sure if Sandwhisker was attempting to help him or attack him by herself. Either way, he wasn't taking the risk. As soon as he found an escape way, he slid away from the other cats. He panted and began walking away from them; he was limping but that wasn't all too surprising. Two, maybe three, cats had attacked him. He glared back at Frozenheart one more time before walking away, hissing and spitting. This just added to his list of reasons why other toms were evil.

Rainstripe sighed as the other tom left; she honestly hadn't wanted to test out her fighting skills against him. Panting, the she-cat sat down in the sand, before scrambling up again. The she-cat that agreed with her about the stupidity of clans was here also! Rainstripe wanted to say hello, but she was frozen by her fear and anxiety. Why was she so scared of other cats? Why? It didn't make sense, it just...happened. So instead of saying hello, she backed up a step and curled her tail around her paws.

Frozenheart hadn't expected help. Still winded from the fight, he looked at his two allies and grinned. Appreciation and gratitude shone in his blue eyes. If either of them needed a favor in the future, he would be obliged.

Rainstripe smiled as well, her yellow-green eyes lighting up. She was still nervous about being around these cats, but the white tom's appreciation had clamed her nerves, if only a little. She took a deep breath, and asked, "What's your names?" looking quizzically at her new allies.

Sandwhisker was panting hard but she nodded curtly at her allies. Sitting back, the ruffled she cat began to smooth down her rumpled fur after replying "Sandwhisker" to Rainstripe's question. She hadn't fought for a while and was out of breath. Something was nagging at the back of her mind; why had she helped these cats? Sure, she had argued alongside them, but Sandwhisker was an inherently selfish cat; she didn't know why she had put her health on the line for two complete strangers. At the time, her decision had been hastily though out and spur-of-the-moment. She flicked her ear uneasily, helping others wasn't the way she was used to behaving.

A growl in her stomach reminded Rainstripe of her hunger. She needed to hunt, but with new allies, maybe she wouldn't have to hunt lizards today. Taking a slow, deep breath, she turned to face the other two. "We should go on a rat hunt!" she announced, grinning.

If Rainstripe had suggested it, she must be hungry. Frozenheart decided that he owed it to her to help out. He nodded in compliance, willing to participate.

Sandwhisker considered it for a moment; but then her stomach grumbled, reminding her of her own hunger. "Alright" she agreed, rising to her paws and stretching slowly.
