"Many things are possible indeed, though a fewer number a plausible. The latter are worth the most consideration. Even only thinking of the possible, Beetlepaw, how do you believe a leader could 'take advantage' of their authority?" Woodstripe inquired.

Bronzefoot stayed silent - he wanted to see what Beetlepaw could come up with. He had thought of and heard several possibilities, but he would wait for Beetlepaw first and see if she needed backing up. 'I wonder whether that apprentice has thought about that before,' he thought to himself.

"Well... he or she could take advantage by making the Clan do things for him or her that aren't necessary. Other then that, I'm not sure. This thought has never really crossed my mind, because I never found a need to consider it before." She shrugged. Beetlepaw had never been the brightest cat in the bunch, so coming up with things on the spot isn't really her specialty. She glanced over at Bronzefoot, wondering if he would say anything. He seemed smart enough. Well, smarter than her, at least.

"Things that aren't necessary?" Woodstripe considered it. "....What things would these be?" Then, with a chuckle, she asked, "An escape attempt?"

"You've made the point before that an insane cat wouldn't be elected leader, Woodstripe," Bronzefoot meowed, narrowing his eyes. "Are you suggesting that elections would not be the way a cat would get to be leader normally? Because if so, then it would be more plausible that an insane cat would become leader. For instance, if leadership was handed down from mother - or father - to kit, than an insane cat could get to power if they were the kit of the previous leader."

Beetlepaw shrugged, "As I have said before, I haven't really considered it, so I wouldn't know." She laughed as well as she mewed, "Maybe. If cats were to start a Clan, who knows who the leader could be? He or she might as well be insane, eh?" "And, to add on to this topic, what if the thought of being leader went to the cat's head? Say, a cat could become crazy from being leader, I would think."

"That's quite plausible," Frailheart meowed. She had been listening for quite some time now, and she felt that now was her time to jump in. "A cat with that much power might end up thinking that they could do anything - such as escaping."

"Calm yourself, Bronzefoot; 'twas a jest." Woodstripe strangled a smirk. "Now don't be silly. We know there are more sane cats than insane. Any crazy cat in the position of leader could be impeached, as I mentioned before."

Bronzefoot opened his mouth to say something but Frailheart quickly cut in. "If a leader was sane at first and grew insane over a long period of time, then it would take a while for cats to realize he or she was insane, no? Also, a cat who thought they could do anything wouldn't go quietly."

"Whatever period of time it took for the Clan to become aware of the leader's instability would not be sufficient time for this cat to be of damage. If the leader gave a crazy command, all would realize this at once and begin taking measures to put new authorities in place. A single cat would not fare well opposition to entire Clan. Now, of course, other insane cats might support this leader but, as I've stated before, there are more sane cats than otherwise."
