Beetlepaw blinked, more interested in the coversation. Why had Woodstripe hesitated before answering? "Well... why haven't you had enough time and thought? I would think that you would have plenty of those things, since you apparently know so much about this topic," she shrugged, "then again, I could just be assuming too much, eh?"

"I place trust only in myself because trusting others just leads to trouble," Bronzefoot meowed without hesitation. "In answer to your other question, a cat could pretend to be a good candidate for leader and win the support of other cats through different methods - giving away food, and things like that. Another way is that a cat could threaten death to gain followers and then murder the leader with the support of his or her followers, which would also lead to a cat you could not trust being in power." He glanced at Beetlepaw for a moment. "I, too, would like to know who you think would be a good leader - though I think I have made it clear that I will disagree."

"I've devoted my time and thought to encouraging reformation and dispelling misconceptions," she informed them with a twitch of her tail. "While what Bronzefoot suggests is perhaps possible, it seems to portray cats as rather foolish. I believe us to posses more intelligence than you imply. Also, I am wondering, what would be a cat's motivation for all of this?"

Brindlestorm lay nearby the three arguing cats, a half-eaten lizard at her paws. As the debate became more heated, she sighed. Why did cats always argue over whether or not there should be a Clan? It didn't matter; anyway, more cats were against the idea than for it. She was one of those anti-Clan cats. She could provide for herself, and after her father's death, she didn't really care about other cats, anyway.
"Oh, give it a rest already!" Brindlestorm called to the quarreling cats. "Your bickering won't change any cat's beliefs. There will always be some cats who want a Clan and some who don't, no matter your efforts to change each others' minds."

Woodstripe turned to Brindlestorm and blinked, hesitating before she offered a warm smile. "My apologies if I seemed discontent." She nodded to Beetlepaw and Bronzefoot to let them know this was directed at them as well before looking back to the tortie. "Cats will always have differing beliefs, this is true - but not always on the same subject matter. Disputes can be resolved; minds can be changed. As you have voiced your thoughts on this issue, would you also provide us with your name?"

"Okay then. If you ever figure out who you think would make a good leader, please enlighten me. Well, you don't have to, but I'd like that." Beetlepaw nodded. The she-cat glanced over at the cat who had just entered the conversation. How dare she just tell them to do something like that? "Who died and made you leader, huh?" The tabby huffed, annoyed. That cat must have guts to just go ahead and do that. "Yeah, what's your name, bossy-paws?"

"Some cats do not possess much intelligence," Bronzefoot meowed, "and some do. Obviously, the cat wishing to get into power would have to be clever if he or she was not a benevolent cat. and - as I think I have said before - a cat might want power just for the sake of having power, or they might wish to gain revenge on somebody - or maybe they could be simply bloodthirsty and sadistic." Bronzefoot shrugged and then turned to Brindlestorm. "What you say is true. This debating is quite pointless - but then, those who have time to spare might as well do it, hmm?"

"Brindlestorm," the tortoiseshell muttered. Then she turned to the younger she-cat, teeth bared. "I have a right to voice my opinion too, don't I? Or do I seem like a noisy cricket, whose voice has no meaning to any cat?" Then, as an answer to the tom, she said, "There are better things to do with your time, you know. Like maybe catching prey? Or doing something that can actually provide for yourself, instead of bickering over such a useless topic as a Clan?"
The she-cat turned away, returning to her meal.

"Noisy cricket," Beetlepaw yawned, ignoring the other she-cat's hostility. She didn't need to waste her time on this cat. "And, yeah, okay, Brindlestorm. I'm Beetlepaw, if you want to know." The tabby considered eating the lizard that Woodstripe had given her earlier; after all, she was pretty hungry. But then she decided that she'd wait until she was away from the other cats. That would be her time to eat.

"I've had my fill for today," Bronzefoot meowed. "No need to waste time and endanger my life by going on another rat hunt." He paused, glancing slyly at Beetlepaw's lizard. "Although I wouldn't mind a small morsel, like a cricket...or a lizard."
