"We are all cats, true, but we each have differences that make us unique. How do the walls affect the predestination of our social order, Beetlepaw? Though we do not stay together long, you can see that things are accomplished when we are together. If we remained so, even more good could come from it." She chuckled. "Now of course you need other cats to keep warm."

"The only differences I see are the colors of our fur and eyes. I never stay with other cats to notice anything else. Well, I guess the walls don't affect it... but, still, it'd never be a real Clan. Y'know, like that old Clan that those crazy old cats talk about. But, it is true that we don't stay together long, and from what I see, many cats wanna keep it 'dat way." Beetlepaw's tail-tip twitched. "Maybe so. Even if, how is it any of your business?"

"Differences are numerous, from physical traits, such as size and strength, to the intellect - for example, some cats are excellent strategists and some cats are insane. Our thoughts and our emotions are our own; we each have our individual ways of reacting to situations. Every cat has strengths and weaknesses. However, when we work together, we can minimize any weaknesses by replacing them with others' strengths in the same area. What, pray tell, is preventing us from becoming a 'real' Clan?"

Bronzefoot was grooming himself, and he frowned as he heard the conversation. At Woodstripe's last question, he decided to take part - if only to voice his opinion before heading off to another rat hunt or something. "Well, one problem is that no one will agree," he meowed gruffly. "I'm not saying that no one will agree on a Clan - I'm saying that there will never be a unanimous decision in this place. You said yourself that we all have different personalities. I'll buy that. That's why we can't work together in areas other than rat hunts, because we all have different views. I mean, just a while ago, I participated in a rat hunt, and guess what happened after it? We argued over whether we should have equal shares or not! That's a prime example of cats with different views not agreeing."

"Sure, sure, they are. What would you call yourself? Are you sure you aren't insane, like those other cats?" Beetlepaw asked the she-cat. She didn't think this cat was insane, but what would it hurt to ask? Like she'd get a truthful answer, anyways. She turned her head to look the tom-cat that had entered the conversation over. But instead of mewing a greeting, she turned back to Woodstripe. "Well, I think, that every cat has to be willing to form a Clan in order for there to be one. And that's not the case here. Many cats don't want a Clan, so if there are less cats willing than there are cats objecting it, how can a Clan even be possible?"

"It is true, Bronzefoot, that cats disagree over many things in our current situation. However, Clanhood gives cats a reason to put aside their differences and settle with one unanimous decision. A Clan is possible when the misconceptions are clarified and cleared away, leaving a path for unity and reformation. I don't think I'm insane, Beetlepaw, although we must remember that the crazy see themselves as logical. Do you think I am insane?" she inquired, tilting her large, brown head.

"Why would we want to put aside our differences? Our differences make us who we are," Bronzefoot meowed, scowling a bit. "But you do seem pretty sane to me," he added grudgingly.

"Maybe I do. Maybe I don't. But that's none of your business." The tabby mewed. Beetlepaw had never been one to voice her thoughts, anyways. She had to wonder if she was even making a point here. If she wasn't, this was just a waste of time to her. But, she could spare it, right?

"This is true, Bronzefoot, that our differences make us who we are, each cat unlike another. Our advantageous differences we would utilize in hunting and systematizing. Our disadvantageous differences, the sort that begin prejudices, rivalries, and disputes, we must minimize and overlook." She smiled at Beetlepaw. "Two cats here say I am sane. If I am not, I won't know unless you notify me."

"Welly, welly, well then," Beetlepaw pushed herself up, from were she had slouched down after a while. She couldn't appear lazy in front of these cats. Even though she thought they wouldn't, if they saw her as a weak cat, they might steal from her. She gazed down at the lizard that she hadn't even touched before looking up at them again. "I agree that you are sane, I guess," she mewed stubbornly, as if she had to force that out of herself.
