And thirdly, the code is more what you'd call "guidelines" than actual rules.

Some site-wide contests will be created by the staff. The winners of these contests will be determined via poll. You are allowed to vote in polls regardless of whether or not you participated in the contest.

However, normal, non-staff scribes are allowed to create their own contests. Contests do not have to be Starless-related or feline-related.

Almost any type is allowed: art, short story, caption, scavenger hunt, etc. What's not allowed are contests that judge Starless threads, characters, or scribes themselves (and in that vein, be sensible; you know the drill).

If you would like to offer prizes, then it is your responsibility to take care of that. For example, you can make graphics/banners, or you can pay out LTs (how to do that: here). Also, it's fine if you don't want to pay out of pocket -- but you'll have to get staff's permission beforehand.

When creating a contest, make sure the thread explains:

• the contest's individual rules
  
• what counts as an entry
  
• dates and deadlines
  
• how winners will be determined (a poll is recommended)
  
• what prizes are offered, if any
