Spiderpaw growled as she jumped at the young tom who had successfully gotten her meat. "Hey, that's mine!" she meowed angrily, though she had been planning on asking that white tom why he hadn't taken any. However, as he seemed to be either ignoring her or had not noticed her, she considered the meat to be hers. "Give that back!"

OOC: Reflecting on what I just posted, it reminds me of a five year old stealing a toy from another five year old and the original owner of the toy going after the thief. xD

Frozenheart wished Barkface had more of a tendency to think things through. Maybe then he would realize the logic of giving meat to the cats who had participated throughout the hunt. The white tom could have killed the rat as good as or better than Barkface had. The tabby's actions were not necessary.
Feeling a twang of sympathy for the ignorant brute, he caught a cricket and brought it before him.
Grimykit's green eyes widened as he dodged Spiderpaw, rat still in his fangs. Then he sprinted off with his prize. Though Spiderpaw was about his age, the tom had longer legs and a longer stride. He was confident he could outrun her.

Barkface was pouting when the tom tossed him a puny cricket. The cat just stared at it. Completely ignoring the sign of sympathy, he retorted, "What the heck am I supposed to do with that? Play with it and hope it makes me feel better?"
Then Frozenheart's real motive struck the tom. "Oh, you want me to eat it!" the tom chuckled. His chuckling soon lead to more complaining, however. "What, you think one cricket is gonna feed me? Besides, I'm sick of crunching crickets. The shell gets stuck in my teeth and everything," Barkface explained.
Sighing, he reluctantly added, "Well, I suppose I'll have to make do, seeing as I won't get anything NEW for dinner today," giving Frozenheart a quick, sharp glare. Then the tom held his head and tail high. "Watch and learn from the master, my friend."
With that being said, the tom located a little clan of crickets, and soon enough his short face was mashing into the sand again, and small sounds could be heard from his gnashing teeth.

Spiderpaw didn't think she could catch up to Grimykit either, but since she might as well give it a try, she ran after him. Well, this was what she thought while she was running; she had actually started chasing Grimykit on impulse. 'What kind of cat who is perfectly healthy would need to steal?' she wondered.

She didn't think she could keep up with him, did she? Grimykit swerved and zigzaged, complicating the trail and increasing in speed. He looked over his shoulder as he galloped past Barkface. No one was helping her. She had to give up soon.
Though Frozenheart often preferred to refrain from audible expression, he couldn't help but laugh at Barkface's method of hunting. If mastery was doing a faceplant, he wouldn't mind staying an amateur. Soft, hoarse wheezes escaped his mirthful mouth as he watched.

Barkface felt a whoosh of air, and he jumped a few feet off of the ground from being startled. Sand nearly covered his face, and the brown tabby spat out grains of sand. As he turned back to Frozenheart, Barkface had a weird expression on his face. Opening his mouth, he stuck out his sand-covered tongue to reveal a cricket among the sea of sand. "Yook, " he said, his words distorted from the sand and his tongue sticking out. He looked like he was slightly in pain or in disgust. "I caut one."
When the tom saw that Frozenheart was actually LAUGHING at his superior hunting skills, he spat out the cricket. "Hahaha. Well if you think it's so funny, why don't YOU try and catch one, huh? HUH?" Barkface challenged.

Spiderpaw frowned as she struggled to keep up with Grimykit. She considered letting him have the rat meat, as her already-eaten other half of her portion had filled her more than any cricket had ever filled her before. But she was intrigued as to why he would need to steal, and a thought came into her head: If there was a Clan, everyone would get enough food, and no one would have to steal.

Oh, come on. She was still trying? Grimykit scoffed in his mind while pivoting around Barkface and speeding in the other direction. He'd run to the other side of the enclosure and back, as many times as he had to. He wasn't giving up this meal.
Frozenheart nodded in consent to the challenge and assumed a crouch. After locating a target, watching it walk with its awkward, long legs, and readying himself to spring, he pounced at it.
And missed.
The cricket leaped to a new location. Frozenheart repeated his attack again, and several times more (boing, boing, boing), before at last catching it in his teeth and crunching it to its death.

Barkface would have mocked the cat, but there was nothing to mock him about--the white tom never said anything, strangely. Narrowing his eyes, a few grains of sand fell off of his fur as his head bobbled to follow the bouncing cat.
Snorting, the cat said, "You look so much like a cricket, I bet they think you are one!". Barkface's laughing, however, was cut off as he heard the sickening crunch. Rolling his yellow-green eyes, he muttered, "Lucky catch...stupid cat...stupid cricket...he LET himself be caught..."
