Because today was interesting and exciting, I have decided to tell you all about it.
1. First day after a four day weekend! The four day weekend was fun. I went to a movie (movie stunk), a concert (concert was good), a play (play was amazing) and it was my dad's birthday during it as well. Okay so that's not today, but oh well. Movie was so bad I don't want to say its name, the concert was by a neat group called Libana (it involved music from all over the world), and the play was A Comedy of Errors, and it was utterly hilarious.
Silly romance scenes + all-girl actors = funny.
2. Today was the auditions for the musical! Whee! Which involved hanging around, talking, talking some more, singing, acting a bit, and going out and talking more and doing homework. Which is more fun than it sounds. On the down side, the musical is a romantic comedy called The Boy Friend which is my favorite kind of play (sarcasm flag waving) but I'm going to make the best of it. At least it's set in the Roaring 20's so my short hair will be period-accurate. Whee!
3. Also the phone-a-thon, which is where people call people who donate money to my school and thank them. I was asked to do some calls, but I ended up only doing one because of my massive homework load. Oh well. I got a free turkey and lettuce sandwich, so it was all right.
-bores everyone to death-
Oh right, my English teacher. Well, in English we're finishing up Macbeth, and today in class we were asked to write an alternate ending to the play (changing only the last few scenes in Act 5, the last act) to make it a comedy. I think you'd have to change the whole play to make it a comedy, but that's just me. Still don't think that play is funny whatever way you spin it, unless your sense of humor is seriously twisted.
Still, I amused myself by making it so that Macbeth was allowed to live (spoiler: he dies) but had to spend his life as a servant to pay for his crimes. But I added that Macduff was so angry at him that he poisoned him and Macbeth died anyway, and no one blamed Macduff because Macbeth was such a jerkface.
Makes no sense, but neither do I.
When it was time to share, we went around the room and when I shared mine I read what I wrote, and added my thoughts about how it still wouldn't be a comedy. Some people said my version was more tragic because in a comedy people are supposed to live. I said it was comedic for the other people in the play that Macbeth died because he was so freaking insane and that if it were me I'd declare a holiday on his dying day because he did such evil things. This is what happened after I said that:
English teacher: -slides way to the other direction on the desks she's sitting on- (My English teacher is a very small woman; I mistook her for a student the first time I saw her) -while giving me a "insane much?" look-
Me: -grins happily- Well, I would!
Everyone: -busts out laughing-
Oh the craziness of my days.
