A lithe gray she-cat paced back and forth near the wall. Her heart had just been broken by the first real cat she had met since her parents died, and his behavior towards her had been particularly nasty. She hoped this Spiderstripe, whoever she was, would be nicer.
Sleetstream paused her walking to sniff the air.

ooc| Procrastinator Gosh strikes again. D8<
bic| Spiderstripe was a bit irritated, seeing as the members of the Experiment were scattered all over the place. They needed to have another meeting. She hadn't seen some members in particular in forever, but perhaps they had quit. Or something. Or, maybe they just couldn't find the rest of them. Maybe she could ask around, see if anyone had seen Woodstripe or Redstream. Wait. Did leaders do that sort of thing? She stopped in her tracks to ponder about this, unaware of the she-cat nearby.

ooc | That is fine Gosh. Everyone does that once in a while.

Sleetstream whipped her head around and saw a she-cat who was still unaware that another figure was here. Maybe the cat knew Spiderstripe, the leader of the Experiment, and could take her to her. But maybe the cat was a con, and would try to hurt her.
The temptation was to much, and Sleetstream ended up walking over to the cat. "Excuse me," she said in a polite voice to the other cat. "I was wondering if you knew Spiderstripe."

Spiderstripe was startled by the cat's voice and a little surprised at who the she-cat was asking for. "I am Spiderstripe," she meowed. "What do - why - what is it?" She was a bit unnerved that the cat knew her name. She wasn't very well known in the Enclosure, after all. She wasn't loud or forceful, really. Then it hit her - she was the leader of the Experiment. Of course! The she-cat was coming to ask to join the Experiment. That was it.
She just wondered one thing - as the leader of the Experiment, was she becoming well known? She hadn't really thought about it before. Was word of the Experiment passing from cat to cat, and its leader, Spiderstripe? It must be, or this cat wouldn't have come to her. Were they talking about Woodstripe too, who had the idea for it? Perhaps.

Sleetstream was surprised at the answer that came from the she-cat's voice in front of her. The leader of the Experiment... How lucky I was to find her on my first time... Someone helpful unlike Shortwhisker. Thoughts were whirling around her brain, her luck and happiness, but she was also she pouting after her encounter with Shortwhisker, the brisk tom.
Sleetstream turned to face Spiderstripe, knowing that she was expecting a word from Sleetstream's maw. "Well," she said, letting surpirse show on her face. "It is nice to meet, my name is Sleetstream and I was wondering if I could join the Experiment. It was short and simple, but right to the point.

"Ah!" Spiderstripe's expression brightened. New members were always good. "Well, it sure is nice to meet you, Sleetstream. I'd love to welcome you into the Experiment. It lasts ten days, and we're three or four days into it. As you know, I'm Spiderstripe, the leader of the Experiment, and my deputy - who is around here somewhere, I'm sure - is Redstream. There are several others, including Woodstripe, who had the idea that started the Experiment, but the thing is, they're all scattered. I only know the general area that Woodstripe, Patchfur, and Darkfur are in, and I haven't seen any of the rest of them. i don't suppose you would know?"

Sleetstream was surprised by all of the names of cats that she didn't know. But then again, her parents had only allowed her to talk to their friends, who were all dead now. "No", Sleetstream said to Spiderstripe. "But maybe we could go looking for them, and then I could know the fellow members of the experiment."

ooc| coming from the rat hunt. bic| Woodstripe came toward them with half of the blood-dripping rat clenched in her teeth, but never one to stay silent for long, she dropped it halfway there, creating a thud and a cloud of dust. "Ah, Spiderstripe! Is that a new member I see? I have good news and bad news to present you with. The good news is that we succeeded in catching a rat. The bad news is that a rat caught one of us." She nodded over at Darkfur. "He still needs to rest and wash up, but he's strong. Now, since we've got this fresh meat to share, what do you say we call a meeting?"

Ah! Finally, some of the other members. "That's correct. Woodstripe, this is Sleetstream. I'm pleased to welcome you into the Experiment, Sleetstream. It's good that we caught another rat - and I hope Darkfur's okay. A meeting sounds excellent." She smiled, hoping she had addressed everything that Woodstripe had just said.

"Not to worry, Spiderstripe, I am mostly unharmed. Patchfur, too, is generally all right - though perhaps he should tell you himself." The tom said, looking back at said fellow Experiment member.
So this was the esteemed leader...she looked rather young, and though Woodstripe seemed deferential to her, he had an idea of where the real power lay. Mm...he should try and meet the deputy, too.
