"When did the rat bite him?" -x- When she was 5 seasons. I already have that in history, didn't you see that?
"How old were the kits when their mother was ordering them around like this? " -x- apprentice age

No, I mean, what time of day? Because if he passed away later that evening from blood loss and infection, I'd assume the bite would have to be fairly recent.
apprentice age

So they weren't old enough to go on with their lives without her anymore? (/fails at wording)

"No, I mean, what time of day? Because if he passed away later that evening from blood loss and infection, I'd assume the bite would have to be fairly recent." -x- A little before sunset.
"So they weren't old enough to go on with their lives without her anymore?" -x- Like old apprentice age. Their father was their main caregiver.

That would make sense, then.
Like old apprentice age. Their father was their main caregiver.

Perhaps in most situations I could understand, but, why did they do everything their mother told them to? What did she provide for them at that point? I don't see any reason for them to stick around her. xP Might just be me.

"Saying that she was the one who was best at catching prey even though she caught the least, things like that." -- Did the kits call her out on it? If so, how'd she react? Or did they start believing everything she said, even with evidence to the contrary? Or did they not believe her, but go along with it anyway to make her happy and stay out of trouble?
"She ordered them to find her places to sleep," -- She couldn't just lie down?
"to get prey for her," -- I assume this was after they had mastered hunting. Was she too old to hunt for herself by then?
"I don't see any reason for them to stick around her." -- Depends on how they felt about her demands and whether they felt obligated to take care of her.

"Or did they not believe her, but go along with it anyway to make her happy and stay out of trouble?" -x- Yes.
"She couldn't just lie down?" -x- She wanted a comfortable place to sleep.
"I assume this was after they had mastered hunting. Was she too old to hunt for herself by then?" -x- Yes, she already wasn't young when they were born.
"I don't see any reason for them to stick around her." -x- They would have felt guilty for neglecting her, for she was an old cat and they still loved her in a way.

"Such as...?" -x- Like in the shade when she's taking a nap in the daytime, or somewhere warm at night.

"Like in the shade when she's taking a nap in the daytime," -- She needs help finding shade?
"or somewhere warm at night." -- That would be right next to another cat. No need to order the kit to go anywhere; just lie down next to it.
