It was a particularly hot day. Normally, Pebbletail didn't spare any thought to the heat, as it was such a normal part of life: annoying, but there, so no use complaining about it. But today, she smirked at the heat, even welcomed it, for with luck it was beating down the strength of those dirtbrained Experiment cats and making them lose their will.
It was also a slightly unusual day in that she was padding over the thin layer of sand on hot gray paws to a place she rarely visited. The Boneyard.
Normally, Pebbletail didn't waste her time with the dead, reminiscing on the past and dwelling in memories. She just wasn't that sort of cat. But today was different, obviously - something had drawn her there. She wanted to see if her brother was still alive, because if he was, he would be a great asset to the Rebellion.
Arriving at the edge of the gloomy place, she began searching for his corpse, if it was there.
To her it was a bit unpleasant, but what was more unpleasant was the thought of her brother dying. Pebbletail's emotions weren't repressed or hidden away, she just didn't really think about them. But now she did.
She'd liked her brother. They hadn't been particularly close, but they'd gotten along okay. Yet the thought of him dead made her choke up.

Frailheart hadn't been to the Boneyard in a while - not since that debate a while back. That had gone on for a good time, yes. But the situation in the Enclosure had become more complex since then, and Frailheart didn't like it one bit. Especially that Woodstripe and her wretched Experiment. Something had to be done. Only.. she hadn't seen any other Rebellion members in ages.
She looked around at the scattered corpses. Her parents and brother were probably here somewhere, but they had most likely turned into unrecognizable skeletons by now.
Oh! There was someone else here, a new face. The she-cat standing not very far away looked a bit familiar, but Frailheart couldn't call up a name. Hopefully, she was a fellow rebel.
"Hello," Frailheart meowed. Noting her expression, she added, "Mourning?" Not exactly the most cordial of greetings, but she wasn't Woodstripe. Eloquence was not necessary in conversations.

Surprised, the small ash-colored she-cat looked up, whiskers twitching. Her green eyes swiftly took in the visitor: slight-framed, yellow tabby, female. Unknown to her.
"Greetings. No, at least not yet. What's your name? I'm Pebbletail of the...I mean, Pebbletail." While they did need more members, they also wanted to stay as inconspicuous as possible. She cursed herself for nearly revealing the Rebellion's name,

Pebbletail of the..? "I'm Frailheart," the yellow she-cat meowed coolly. Trying to forward the conversation, she added, "Anything interesting happen to ya recently?" Peering at Pebbletail, she wondered if she had seen her before. Perhaps. "Have I seen you from somewhere?" she asked. She really did look familiar..

Ah, stones. How was there a way out of this without flatly lying? Well, she'd only need to lie if Frailheart was a Clanner.
"Maybe to both questions. Are you a Clanner or a con?"
No point pussyfooting around the dilemma.

All conversations seemed to get to this issue all too quickly. "Why, I'm a con, of course," Frailheart replied. "You got a problem with that?" Frailheart hoped she was a fellow con. Because if Pebbletail was a Clanner, they would probably part ways bristling with anger or something.

Pebbletail raised an amused eyebrow. For her frail stature - doubtlessly the source of her name - the she-cat had quite the personality. But then, she knew only too well that looks were deceiving. Take a gander at herself or the Experiment for proof.
"None at all, my fellow. For I too am a rebel like yourself. Speaking of which..." She dropped her voice and checked the area for any eavesdroppers. And as she did so, memory flashed in her mind. She knew this she-cat! Frailheart! Of course! She'd forgotten having met her because she'd never been properly introduced, and there'd been so much going on, but now she knew her.
Woodstripe. Experiment. Frailheart's cold voice against her. Watching the complicated affairs. Something about an offer. Accusations.
The short-furred cat suddenly felt overwhelmed by all that she now recalled.
"I remember you; you were there the day I joined the Rebellion. Woodstripe spoke to you. Were you...were you really behind the Experiment?" Her voice had strong disbelief that a fellow con would do such a thing.

Frailheart meowed indignantly, "No way! There was this big debate going on, see, and I was putting down Clanhood and all that, and she said something like, 'What if we test out this whole thing? What do you say, Frailheart?' and I said, 'Whatever,' and the next thing I know there's this whole stoned Experiment. It was all her idea, see." Frailheart bristled, thinking, 'That Woodstripe and her Experiment are going down. Somehow.'

Her feelings toward the little green-eyed con went up a large degree at her next words. Good. She'd known no true con could do something so horrible, really.
"Ah, I see. Tell me something - do you know Bronzefoot, that strange tom who was also there the day we were? He said he was a double agent...did you put him up to that, knowing about the Experiment and all? Are there more spies like him?" She asked curiously.

"I've seen Bronzefoot around a few times, never really talked to him though. I'm pretty sure we have some other tom in the Experiment as well, but I can't remember his name. Orange...something?" She trailed off for a moment, trying to remember. Then she shrugged and continued in a slightly lower voice, "Anyways, the point is that we've definitely got two toms just under the noses of those Experiment fools. But unfortunately, the last few times the Rebellion has converged and planned, the thread died not much of a plan was made. Especially that last time. Ugh." She scowled at the memory of bossy Woodstripe sticking her nose where it didn't belong and blabbing about her stupid Experiment. "Maybe if we could actually find the rest of the Rebellion members, we could make a real plan, and then perhaps enact it."
