I know, my sense of humor - or lack there of - is terrible But really. Mite. As a prefix. Perhaps to represent a cat of small size.
I'm thinking it would be acceptable, but I'm kind of wondering if cats would be able to see them.
:c What does everyone else think?

Mites are very, very small like you said. I think some of them are even near microscopic. So, even if the cats could see them, I don't see how they'd be so significant that a queen would name her kit Mitekit. Just like how that little white spot on the kit's face might be there, but it's not significant enough to name it Whitekit if the rest of it's black. I hope that made sense. :C

Well, first of all have you ever seen a mite before? I can say I haven't, so how would the queen know what color a mite was to name her kit after one? Inferring what color it is? There's also the thing that most mites and such are bothersome to most animals, so I don't think a queen would name her kits after she thought was annoying. Also Hal makes a wonderful point. I would have typed that myself but I'm playing LOTRO and I don't want my horse, SerPounce, and myself to die. .___.;;
HAPPY MOTHER TEN? /shot

Ten's not a mother.
So Whitefoot, as I believe you can tell, I asked Draco and Hal their opinions on the prefix. Knowing the color of mites isn't imperative, but I doubt a queen would name her kits after one if she'd never really seen a mite. Can they be scratched off?
