I realize this is possibly one of the most useless, unthoughtful questions in a long time, but I've read through the site and couldn't seem to figure it out on my own.
Is a Calico cat one that needs to be purchased? Or is a Calico free?

Welcome to Starless, Constant. As long as the calico doesn't have tabby stripes, she's free. :3 That's not a bad question. Any time you want to know something, don't be afraid to ask. Here's a little more about purchasable privileges: the stats table to the right has a list of things under the word "prices". This is the list of traits and characters that you have to pay to get. If it's not on that list, that means it's free for the taking.

Thank you so much! I saw the Stat board, but wasn't entirely sure if Calicos fell under the Spotted Tabby mark or not. Thanks again!
