"Mature people can still be silly." -- True. And I believe that we could talk about religion without insulting each other.

"For the planet? How? It's been my understanding that vegetarianism helps animal rights because a lot of slaughterhouses/meat processors/whateverfolks keep animals in over-crowded, inhumane conditions with stuffy bad airflow, bad hygiene, no room to move, etc.
Does eating or not eating meat relate to the environment, too?"
It does. It's a long, complicated explanation, but keeping animals that are raised for meat has a big impact on the environment - it's a large part of global warming, unfortunately.

I feel so sad for the animals that are raised for meat, they never get to even see sunlight for the most part.

I've heard about that, in fact I read a book about that. The same thing is true with egg-laying chickens, they keep them in such close quarters they panic and peck each other, so instead of just giving them more room they cut off the ends of their beaks! It's disgusting the ends people will go just to save some money. That's why I beg my parents to buy free-range eggs.

Money is the root of all evil. :/

"It does. It's a long, complicated explanation, but keeping animals that are raised for meat has a big impact on the environment - it's a large part of global warming, unfortunately." -- Oh, the logging-the-rainforest-for-cattle-land thing?
"I feel the same way. I don't even eat any products made out of gelatin even though I know thats a bit silly." -- That's not silly at all. The idea of something being made from hooves is disgusting.
"...they cut off the ends of their beaks!" -- e.e
"Money is the root of all evil." -- Selfishness is closer to it, since the motives for evil encompass more than desire for money.

Oh, the logging-the-rainforest-for-cattle-land thing?
--- Yeah, since the rainforest does a lot to absorb our extra carbon. And plus they're killing my favorite birds, parrots and harpy eagles, making me doubly angry.
I wish I didn't eat things made of gelatin, but jello is just too good. ;_;

"That's why I beg my parents to buy free-range eggs." -- My friend owns chickens- free-range chickens- and we get some of our eggs from her.
"I wish I didn't eat things made of gelatin, but jello is just too good. ;_;" -- Yeah, it's easy staying away from meat, but harder to stay away from gelatin.
"Oh, the logging-the-rainforest-for-cattle-land thing?" -- I hate how people are cutting down the rainforest. It makes me so mad.
