Role Player- Ducky
--
Name- Spottedfur
Gender- Tom
Physical Description- Spottedfur is a young adult tom, he is slightly smaller than average height, and his build is slender. He has triangular ears that are remarkably tall, about the height of his head, and round green eyes. His longer hind legs allow him to be a very swift cat, and he relies on his running ability to make up for his lack of hunting skill. Even so, he is still scrawny for a tom his size. His fur is a light silver color all over his body and marked with small black spots. Below his knees and on his tail, the spots fuse and blur into stripes. Near the tip of his tail he has thick black rings and the tip is solid black. His fur is short, so the dark season can be potentially life-threatening for him, especially at night. However, this short fur means he is comfortable even in extremely hot temperatures.
Views- To a cat who has rarely had a full belly, the idea of a Clan is enticing. A fresh-kill pile would be built by the best hunters and Spottedfur would be allowed to eat from it. He might even get some more training and learn how to hunt properly. He believes that a Clan is a good idea, as long as the disabled are treated fairly.
Kin- Mother: Speckledbreeze Father: Greyspots, Sister: Duskpelt
History- While she was a young kit, Speckledbreeze got a head injury which damaged her brain, making her forgetful and spacey. THough she had never planned to have kits, she fell in love with Greyspots, who left her soon after learning she was pregnant, as he did with all the she-cats he mated with. Because of this, she was not really ready to be a mother when she had Duskkit and Spottedkit. She was very breezy, lighthearted, energetic, and carefree. However, due to her brain damage, she was also quite forgetful and careless, and was never good at handling responsibility.
When the kits were born, she fell in love with them and promised herself that she would be a good mother. Luckily, she stayed relatively focused on the kits and kept them alive until they were old enough to eat meat, though they were thinner than normal since Speckledbreeze occasionally forgot to feed them. She loved to talk, and would go on a hunting expedition for herself and not come back until the next morning because she had to talk to every single cat she met, forgetting completely about her waiting kits. They were fed more consistently after they started eating meat, because Speckledclaw would just give pieces of her kill to them.
She didn’t seem to care that Dusk-kit was mute and never really bothered to learn the complex body language she used to ‘speak’ to her brother. During their kithood, the two kits developed a very close bond, becoming best of friends as well as siblings since they had no one else to communicate with. Spottedkit considered himself Dusk-kit’s official interpreter, and she was glad somebody could understand her and tell other cats what she was trying to say.
When they were old enough to be apprenticed, Speckledbreeze began training them and gave them apprentice names, though the training they received under her was piecemeal at best. By the time they were old enough to leave Speckledbreeze and had gained their warrior names, their hunting skills were still inadequate for such a demanding environment. Their speed helped them somewhat, but they were always hungry and always chasing after crickets and lizards that rarely filled their stomachs.
One day, after a particularly meager meal, the two cats saw a rat mother with her pups. Without any knowledge on the dangers of rats, another aspect of their training Speckledbreeze had neglected, the two went after it. The mother rat was more than a match for their skills and the fight was a short one. Once the two cats had both been wounded, Spottedfur was ready to quit, but Duskpelt was too hungry for reason by this point, and attacked the young rat once more. The mother tackled her and, holding her to the ground, bit her neck, killing her.
Spottedfur was so close to his sister that her death would’ve destroyed him, so his mind simply refused to believe that she was dead. While the mother rat dragged her body away, in Spottedfur’s mind she limped over to him and collapsed at his paws due to the injuries she had received. Eventually, she ‘recovered.’
Even though he watched his sister die, he considers her to still be alive and in his mind, she is always nearby, like an imaginary friend. If someone were to reveal the truth to him, he’d have a full mental breakdown. His mind comes up with her movements and communications, and because she is mute and he has to interpret for her, he has a legitimate reason for having to tell cats what she’s saying.
