Irrelevant title is irrelevant. I have some more thoughts on advertising, for y'all to discuss with me AFTER you reply to your role play threads. > So! Where are you from? =3 No, not like that. How did you find Starless? That's our first order of business here. As for me, I used to try to find enjoyable role plays on Neo, writing my own plots (so lame, those) until I came up with one particular plot that I decided would be impossible to fit on one little neoboard or even a guild (omigourds, I'm so glad Spot gave me something better than that stupid glowy skin that Starless had at first). Anyway, I know several of you came from Neo, too. If that's the most fruitful location, so to speak, then we should work up a new advertising campaign over there. Speaking of which, I want to set up rewards for any advertising that y'all scribes might feel inclined to do, and if you refer anyone who ends up joining and getting a cat accepted, that deserves an even bigger prize. For posting ads on other fora, though, you would have to put your name that you use on Starless in the little "name" text box and give me the link to that ad (posting an ad on a forum that already has our ad doesn't count). Neopets poses a problem, not just because of censors and character limits, but because the boards don't last (and they're gone even quicker if they catch you). I'm thinking screenshots make proof enough, but that seems like splitting hairs and I don't want to hassle you for doing me a favor. Maybe I'll just host those boards myself and you can come along if you want. So what amounts seem to be appropriate payment for ad posting, successful referrals, and helping out on neo? ...Also, please answer the first question about how you found the site. /rambletext

I am one of the (I think) very few who has never even set foot in Neopets. I know about it, of course, from various people (May mostly) but my very first roleplaying was with (again, May) on our own little sucky site. Ah, memories. =P
I learned about Starless from none other than...May. If you're all wondering who she is by this point, she stalks Starless as its official stalker. Surprisingly enough, she does very little roleplaying. /ramble
Ten was the one who really got me to JOIN, however, because of her natural awesomeness that I had finally realized. >< Painful memories of me being stupid.
I have...roughly no ideas about advertising. No neo account either, I'm afraid, so I'm rather useless.

Well, I pretty much went to every board started by a member of THEM, learned how Warriors was supposed to work, and wanted a better roleplay than my guild. I clicked on the link that you posted once and found Starless. And no Neo roleplay ever, ever compared.

(: It's not hard to be better than a neoboard role play.
/chases after Cloud with a butterfly net for not doing her replies
May? Who's May? We don't have a May. >> Cloud came from FoF.
About neo -- would it be better for me to set up a petpage with Starless info on it (meaning our premade ad from the ad board) and then post that link on a neotopic, or should I copy and paste the text from that same ad onto the topic itself, dealing with censors and character limits but at the same time bumping the topic?

I think the second one. A lot of Neo people, me included, are too lazy to read petpags, hence why petpage intros were so annoying for me back when I was on that site. And I agree Ten, neo roleplays fail 99% of the time.

o.o In person, Brain? hm. Those rates sound alright. I'm wondering if the activity of the forum you post on should make a difference, though... and actually recruiting someone is a pretty big deal, so maybe a little more than 100 LTs, but not by much. I already have an ad for Starless written, so that's not an issue. I'm thinking I'll take Ducky's suggestion and set up a neopets-friendly version, but I might also try to set up a petpage to give people the option (some might not want to wait for all the posts, and a page would allow you to neomail the link).

"actually recruiting someone is a pretty big deal" --- 150 LTs?

That or 200 LTs. I want to see what other folks say, though.
